The 2022 FIVB Volleyball World Championship kicked off on Friday, September 23rd. They are held in Poland and the Netherlands and will last until 11 October. 24 teams entered the tournament, divided into four groups of six teams. Sixteen national teams will advance to the second group stage - four best teams from each group.
Polish volleyball players will take part in the volleyball world championships, and for the first time after a twelve-year break they have entered a tournament of this rank. Let us recall that our volleyball players celebrated their last success 13 years ago, when they won a bronze medal at the European Championship in 2009. Earlier, in 2003 and 2005, Andrzej Nemczyk’s wards won two gold medals.
The history of clashes between Poles and Croats
At this year’s World Championships, Polish women entered Group B and will face teams such as Turkey, Dominican Republic, South Korea, Thailand and Croatia.
Croats will play the first match at the World Championship among volleyball players. Both teams have met each other five times, and so far all the meetings have been won by the team of white and red. Therefore, our volleyball players are the favorites to win this game.
