According to the President of PiS, there are signals from the opposition parties that if the opposition loses the elections, it will start talking about electoral fraud.
- What does it mean? That they want to fake themselves. Remember that elections in Poland are organized by local governments, and who has more of them? Unfortunately, on the other hand, especially in large cities, said Yaroslav Kaczynski.
And therefore, only effective organization and control of the work of all election commissions should be a condition for the next parliamentary elections to be fair. Professor Kazimierz Kick, a political scientist and public commentator, is skeptical of such explanations.
- Yaroslav Kaczynski understands the threat of elections in his own way. When it is said that elections are at stake, it means that the victory of Law and Justice is at stake. In my opinion, he identifies the interests of the country and its citizens with the interests of PiS. The whole atmosphere that reigns now is the struggle itself, - prof. Kik.
PiS MP: “The opposition has no prohibitions. She’s ready for anything!”
Meanwhile, as Yaroslav Kaczynski points out, the threat to independent Poland comes not only from the east, but also from the west. The idea of the federalization of Europe is also considered dangerous for our country, and Jarosław Kaczynski describes the next elections as a “struggle for democracy”. There is no doubt that the elections should be followed, as well as in the associates of the PiS chairman. Member of the European Parliament Ryszard Czarnecki (59 years old) directly points out that one should look at the hands of the opposition.
- I do not expect anything good from the opposition, because what it has shown over these seven years - the transfer of politics to the street, the withdrawal of internal affairs abroad - really shows that the opposition has no constraints and constraints, it is ready for anything. I highlight everything! Therefore, I do not think that she has any moral restrictions in anything, - Ryszard Czarnecki says to Fact.
These multiple threats and the atmosphere of uncertainty are ideal for the use of military rhetoric. As Professor Kik points out, there are even more elements that help to talk about the militarization of behavior.
“Firstly, the fight against the pandemic, the fight against inflation, the fight for victory, the war in Ukraine is such a penetration of the world of politics into the atmosphere that has developed in Poland and in the world,” the political scientist explains.
He also notes that in Europe there is a noticeable trend of loss of voters by the ruling parties, and the autumn and winter crises can only accelerate this process. However, this is not the only reason why the next PiS presidential election should be a fight for everything.
- He is 73 years old. He has no more time and this is his last fight. And this last battle he cannot lose, because he will go into oblivion. He perfectly understands that there will be turmoil around many things, and from such turmoil it is not known what will result, maybe a sentence? So he’s fighting for his life, Professor Kick says.
Poles’ voting rights under threat?
Kazimierz Kik has no doubt that in a country that has been saturated with daily political struggle for years, it will be difficult to organize completely democratic elections, the result of which will be recognized by both sides of the dispute. The voting system used in Poland does not contribute to this either.
- Elections that everyone recognizes and will not be accused of falsification can be held, but in civil society. That is, a society in which the rule of the largest minority does not operate. In Poland, we are still doomed to the fact that the minority wins, of course, the minority has more than one hundred percent the right. And when you win on the basis of some legal tricks, you have to use not necessarily legal tricks, says the professor.
The scholar fears that the voting rights of citizens, for which liberal democracy is known, are now under threat. The question also arises, what can “the party of the largest minority, which will try to maintain power at any cost” go to?
- If there is no liberal democracy in the full sense of the word, because there is no dialogue, no compromise, then there are tricks. And every trick is to limit the civil rights of the Poles. And when Kaczynski talks about creating an election defense corps, they ask themselves, whose corps will it be? - Prof is perplexed. Kazimierz Kik.
