“The public should get rid of the opinion that now the tanks should come and retake the territory,” military expert

Thousands of tanks breaking through the front in the morning fog so much imagine the Ukrainian counteroffensive. Swiss military expert Markus Keupp thinks it’s “nonsense”. In his opinion, the counteroffensive has been going on for a long time.but not in the way many people think”, as he said in an interview with the German publication Stern.

In connection with the counter-offensive, many people imagine tank battalions rolling towards the Russian positions. Kremlin troops are said to have built hundreds of kilometers of defensive structures along the front, judging by satellite imagery. But mechanized movements, breakthroughs with the help of battle tanks and armored vehicles - this is only the result, Keupp said. - When the offensive is mentioned, most people think in terms of images of World War II: thousands of tanks rolling out in the morning mist breaking through the front over a wide area. The public must get rid of the idea that now the tanks must come and reclaim the territory, which will then be captured by the infantry. This is nonsense.”

According to the expert, at the first stage it will be necessary to scout the front and rear as best as possible. Ukraine, as they say, has moved even further and is in the second stage: the weakening of Russian logistics. “Cutting off fuel supplies, destroying rail lines and strategic road links. Many oil depots that are now being blown up in Russia with the help of drones were used to supply fuel to Russian troops and the Black Sea Fleet.”, says Keupp in an interview.

He also mentions two fuel trains derailed in the Bryansk region a few days ago, as well as attacks in the Stavropol and Krasnodar regions. He expects mechanized forces to advance no earlier than mid-July. Before that, Markus Keupp expects artillery attacks on Russian resources in the frontline sector, as well as attacks with special ammunition on minefields to clear the way for tanks.

In a recent interview with ntv, retired military expert Colonel Ralph Thiele said that even if the offensive is successful, the war is likely to continue after it.

Earlier stated the point of view of Mark Galeotti: he spent 20 years on the restoration of the Russian army, and then simply destroyed it in Ukraine.
