The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a decision to expel another 15 Russian spies from the country, acting under the guise of diplomacy (recall, 17 such Russian “diplomats” were expelled in the fall). In a communiqué on this decision, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry noted that it is associated with a threat to European security:
“The government made this decision because of the changing situation in Europe, which led to increased espionage activities by Russia.”
The statement emphasizes that Russian intelligence officers who are affected by the government’s decision should leave Norwegian territory as soon as possible, writes https://www.wprost.pl/
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Moscow would respond with “mirror actions.”
The situation was commented by the head of the Norwegian Foreign Ministry Anniken Hutfeldt.
“This is an important step in countering and reducing Russian intelligence activities in our country, which consequently leads to the strengthening of our internal security,” - she said.
The threat from Russia was also the main topic of the speech by Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau. In his speech in the Sejm, the politician stressed that Poland and all of Europe are now facing a historic choice. “The moment of historical change that we are witnessing requires us to answer the question: what kind of peace do we want for Poland, what international order is the most suitable for it?” - he asked.
Recall that a Russian spy was recently detained in Poland.
