A resident of the Korostyshevsky district was convicted of cruelty to animals, which led to their death. The man will spend 5 years behind bars, the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported.
The court found the man guilty of cruelty to two animals, deliberately killing them with particular cruelty.
During the trial, it was proved that a 27-year-old resident of a village in the Korostyshevsky district committed the crime in February 2021.
He lured a shepherd dog and another stray dog into his yard, and using household tools, killed them with particular cruelty in the garage, dismembered them, and then ate them.
In court, the attacker admitted his guilt, but he did not repent of his deed.
The forensic psychiatric examination established that the accused has certain health disorders, but they do not affect the control of his actions and the responsibility for them.
“During the pre-trial investigation, the suspect repeatedly violated the requirements of the measure of restraint - being under round-the-clock house arrest, which caused concern among the villagers, in connection with which the measure of restraint was changed to detention, for the last three months - to stay on bail” - the message says.
The verdict of the court imposed a sentence of imprisonment for a period of 5 years and recovered 50 thousand hryvnia. moral damages in favor of the victim.
