In the American city of Garden City (South Carolina), a tragedy occurred: an umbrella that was blown away by the wind pierced the chest of a woman relaxing on the beach.
Unfortunately, the doctors were unable to save the victim, writes Associated Press.
The umbrella hit 63-year-old Temmie Perrault, suffered a chest injury and died in hospital an hour after the incident.
The publication notes that in the United States, beach umbrellas are pointed so that it is convenient to stick them in the sand. If the umbrella is loose, it can easily be blown away by the wind - this is facilitated by a wide dome. Therefore, every year in the country about three thousand people are injured associated with beach umbrellas.
Therefore, Virginia Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner called for a review of beach umbrella requirements and launched a campaign to keep umbrellas safe after a woman died in a similar event in Virginia in 2016.
Recall that recently on Mount Giewont in the Polish Tatras near the city of Zakopane, during a storm, lightning hit one of the tourists who were on top. The young man - a citizen of Ukraine - died in the hospital.
And in the Ternopil region, the elements claimed the lives of three people - a husband and his two daughters. The car they were in was swept into the river during a downpour.
