One of the most famous Ukrainian resorts - the Arabat Spit - is deserted this summer.
If earlier millions of tourists rested here, then in July and August of military 2022 almost all establishments are closed, only local fishermen and a few vacationers visit the beaches, writes RBC-Ukraine, citing sources from local residents.
Kherson residents are trying to leave the territory of the occupied region. Tourists come when shelling grows around the settlements.
The beaches are clean and quiet. Recreation centers did not even deploy sunshades and did not install umbrellas. Units of vacationers sunbathe and swim. There are still many jellyfish in the sea. There is no one to complain about their invasion now.
A similar situation is in all the villages on the spit - Strelkov, Gengirts, Schastlivtsevo, as well as in Genichesk itself.
Housing here is now cheap, but there are practically no people who want to come on vacation. In Genichesk, people often hear the sounds of explosions and shooting, Russian aircraft are visible.
The houses of local residents on the spit are gradually emptying.
“People are leaving. Even those who at first wanted to stay are gradually “leaking”. Someone goes to the Crimea and Russia, others make a circle - through the Crimea, Russia, Europe, to get back to Ukraine. Someone is going to the Arabat Spit through the front”- said one of the locals.
Recall that the Russian invaders are gathering troops and equipment in the Kherson region. Experts believe that the Russians are preparing an offensive in the south.
