  • The restaurant will feature elegant and subtle details that nod to Tiana’s rich New Orleans past, including embellishments reminiscent of her ball gown and Mardi Gras flowers.
  • The menu will feature Tiana’s history and flavors from New Orleans, with ingredients sourced from Louisiana. The interior will also feature references to the film, such as a mural on the bay and personal items from Tiana and her family.

Disney has revealed that Tiana’s Palace, Disneyland’s new fast food outlet, will debut on September 7, 2023, taking over the site of the former French Market restaurant in New Orleans Square. The restaurant is inspired by Tiana’s culinary experience, first showcased in the classic Disney animated film. The princess and the frog.

The Disney Parks Blog shared the following information regarding the opening of a new fast food restaurant:

The restaurant will have so many elegant yet subtle details that hint at Tiana’s rich past in New Orleans. Beneath an illuminated marquee marked “Tiana’s Palace” overhanging a metallic gold balcony are emerald green wrought iron railings and canopies painted yellow and green, reminiscent of Tiana’s beautiful formal ball gown. You will be surrounded by the colors of Mardi Gras as you sit at yellow table tops, warm vanilla chairs with green seats, shaded by yellow and green umbrellas.

Disney says the new menu items will “represent Tiana’s history and honor the tastes and flair of New Orleans, with some ingredients sourced directly from Louisiana where possible.” Guests will also be able to use the mobile ordering feature in the park when the restaurant opens.

The Disney Parks blog also reports that the interior of the restaurant is also heavily inspired by the film:

Disney Imagineers also drew inspiration from the film for the restaurant’s interior, which includes a large mural of the bay. You will also see other references to Tiana’s story - lilies depicted on numerous signs, tablets and lamps, porcelain frogs, cookbooks that Tiana has collected on small shelves, and her father’s favorite spoon, proudly displayed. You should also pay attention to the exposed letters from her father and neighbors, as well as a childhood photo of Tiana.

The transformation of the French Market into Tiana’s Palace marks another step in Tiana’s expansion of influence in the park. In the coming year, the once-log gutter ride of Splash Mountain - and its problematic backstory - will resurface as Tiana’s Bayou adventure, complete with a completely reimagined narrative, environment, characters and soundtrack that seamlessly expands on the story presented in The princess and the frog. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open in a new form in late 2024 at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Park.
