fast saga has become known for its growing arsenal of shark jumping moments, but you won’t have to look any further than the second film in the franchise. 2 Fast 2 Furiousto see where he began to embrace his own absurdity. Fast and Furious set up a premise that was admittedly silly, but not entirely unbelievable - at least not the same as in later films. A street racer slashes a car pirate named Dominic Toretto (VIN diesel) his family of thieves was infiltrated by a charming and benevolent undercover cop (Paul Walker), whose loyalty is tested by the raw, ruthless charisma of Dom and his crew.
2 Fast 2 Furious, however, knew that after the success of the first picture there was only one way. It follows the natural law of movie sequels, making the stunts more extravagant, the races faster, the stakes higher, and the plot more absurd. We’ve come a long way from dangerous street racing and heisting semi trailers with valuable electronics. Quick X has many other top notch things for fans, from adorably cartoony Jason Momoa as a peacock villain to one elaborate action sequence after another (spoiler alert: Dom avoids the explosion of two oncoming trucks by jumping his car off the damn dam). But that’s just getting ahead of itself a bit - let’s go back for a moment to the point where the franchise came to a fork in the road and made the decision to fully indulge in its amazing absurdity.
“2 Fast 2 Furious” First takes the franchise down a path of absurdity
2 Fast 2 Furious is the kind of movie where a breakneck street race culminating in sports cars jumping over an open drawbridge seems to be one of the least ridiculous moments. From here things get even crazier, with a melodramatic plot structure that revolves around Brian O’Conner (Walker) trying to get out of legal trouble by working with the feds and recruiting his old acquaintance Roman Pierce (Tyrese Gibson) to help defeat a vicious Argentine drug lord (Cole Hauser). Brian and his reluctant accomplice bust their asses in their fancy Mitsubishis, going deep undercover to bring Verone down before a big deal is made.
As the film progresses, one ridiculous plot after another, and at the climax of the film, Brian jumps in his car on a moving yacht at a speed of 120 miles per hour, as if he had seen too many episodes Dukes are dangerous. this is some Mission impossible crap, but Brian lands smoothly, saving the day with his unrivaled driving skills and sheer bravery. While this moment itself is arguably the most ridiculous in the entire movie and one of many in the entire series, 2 furious realizes how excessive he has become. Unbelievable to the point of impossibility 2 furious seems to make the audience believe it by acting deliberately silly in his presentation - “boat… car… boat… you’re not going to do what I think you’re going to do,” Roman screams in a moment to the scream. his lungs blew out in the car, turned into a projectile.
This is just one of a whole bunch of stupid moments. Moments before Brian literally crashes Verone’s little yacht party, Roman throws out an armed bandit (Roberto Sanchez) from his car with a hidden nitrous oxide canister similar to James Bond’s famous ejection seat (Brian’s nose doesn’t work, the ejection failed). Where secret spy agents by their very nature have limitless incredible technology at their disposal, Brian and Roman are really only meant to be ordinary people who happen to be good at driving. Brian may be a former undercover cop, but he only former undercover cop, and here he is developing a replica of a device seen in golden finger.
Most memorable, however, is the mid-movie scene in which Verone tortures a rogue cop (Mark Boone Jr.) by placing a rat under a metal bucket on the cop’s stomach, and then heating the bucket with a burner to essentially force the rat into eating your way through the dude’s stomach. It all seems like an overly convoluted and theatrical way of inflicting pain, when the torch itself might have been just as convincing. It’s some supervillain nonsense staging a sophisticated way to brutally injure someone simply because it’s a more unique way to do it.
this is the charm 2 Fast 2 FuriousAnd Fast saga as a whole. There is always a much easier way to do things, it’s just that none of them are as interesting.
“2 Fast 2 Furious” (And Paul Walker) are working to make up for Vin Diesel’s absence.
Vin Diesel has become an ubiquitous face fast and furious Franchise, and it is clear. His character, Dom Toretto, is essentially the link that holds all the characters together. His ego, one might say, and keeps. Whatever you say about Diesel, it’s hard not to admire his dedication to the series. Vin even filmed his own mini-series for the series, demonstrating stylistic prowess and a thorough understanding of the characters.
That’s why Vin’s lack of 2 Fast 2 Furious all the more amazing. Except tokyo driftin which he plays only a minor role, 2 Fast 2 Furious is the only entry in the franchise without Dom, his muscles, and his devotion to family. However, it still performs surprisingly well, a fact that owes as much to the film’s decision to vastly outperform its predecessor as to Paul Walker’s unbridled charisma. 2 furious it’s a very Walker film. He is certainly a star, but he also goes above and beyond with confidence and charm. The previous film played him with Vin in such a way that he showed two sides of the same man’s coin, but in 2 furious he takes the lead 100%. Roman Pierce is an important supporting character and ally of Brian, but he sticks to just that: side character.
Walker has an infectious energy. Brian walks around like he owns the place, aloof and cold-blooded one moment and adrenaline-pumped the next. He always calls people bro and spoke like a guy who had almost everything figured out. The entire film is an opportunity for Walker to shine. shine he does. By the time the credits roll, you’ll be asking, “Home WHO?”
In the film, Walker is the new protagonist, with a different aesthetic from the one that was previously established in the number one film. You feel young and energetic. John Singleton gives the film a twist. Breakneck street racing blurs pastry neon and traffic lights into a kaleidoscopic mix of colors. The thick, humid heat of Miami seems inevitable even to the viewer, as it practically drips off the screen. The soundtrack is based on the wild popularity (since the early 2000s) of a certain southern-flavored hip-hop that feels like an authentically preserved encapsulation of all that is cool.
Fast Saga’s dedication to surpassing yourself is what makes it great
Even more than the first 2 Fast 2 Furious this is the start of something great. Relatively, Fast and Furious feels like a half Boiling point a heist, with adequate action sequences just enough to barely hold him together. Number two gave the franchise a fresh look, a joyful desire to make the impossible possible. From here, natural laws (i.e. gravity) are thrown to the wind in favor of pure, unspoiled entertainment. What starts with a car jumping on a moving boat turns into sending cars into space.
This is a simple progression. This is what makes the franchise great. fast fivestill the strongest entry in the entire franchise, was the second turning point that brought her even further into the realm of the absurd. 2 Fast 2 Furious ranks as one of the strongest parts of the franchise due to the courage to do things that its predecessor didn’t. Here are street racers, and undercover agents, and sadistic drug lords who act not in accordance with rationality, but in the theater. All those annoying concepts like credibility And logics are mere obstacles designed to interfere with pure entertainment. Long before Dom and co dragged the massive vault through the streets of Rio in their cars, 2 furious was on to something: why not go further, jump higher, go faster, just because we Maybebecause people will come to see it?
