DreamWorks just introduced Fright Kreveupcoming animated series created by the author James Frey and horror film director Eli Roth. The series is aimed at the “older kid”, which is surprising given Roth’s history in making gory and gruesome horror films.

DreamWorks is one of the world leaders in animation and has created highly successful franchises such as shrek, Kung Fu Panda, Boss BabyAnd How to Train Your Dragon. What all of these franchises have in common is that they defy expectations by creating fantastical universes that are fun for kids while also touching on adult themes. For example, one of the recent successes of the studio, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, brought the whole family to the theater, discussing how death gives meaning to life. However, while DreamWorks projects can get dark, the studio has never dabbled in horror.

WITH Fright Kreve, DreamWorks is set to release the studio’s first horror animated series for older children. And although this is already amazing news, it is very interesting to know that Roth became a co-author of the project. If Roth’s name sounds familiar to you, it’s because the director is behind him. Roth co-author Fright Kreve with Frey, best known for his work on Legacy of Loriena series of books for teenagers. Roth and Frey serve as executive producers on the series, along with Joanna Lewis And Christine Songko. Shane Acker And Mitchell Smith act as co-executive producers.
