It’s been a busy year for the dynamic duo. Phil Lord And Chris Miller. Not only did the couple work hard on the script for the highly anticipated film. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Versebut they also finally got the chance to reboot the fan-favorite adult animated series, Clone High. Now that the latter is back to overwhelming success and the former hits theaters on June 2nd, you might be wondering what the creative team has in store for us next.

Sitting with my own collider Steve Weintraub, Lord and Miller were asked this very important question, and they gave us a pretty convincing answer about what we can expect from them outside of the multiverse. While many of their recent projects, including Through the universes of spiders And The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part seen as they take up the pen and write heartfelt and entertaining scripts, they have shown that their return to directing is just around the corner.

Sharing their love for the couple’s films, which have featured such Cloudy with a chance of meatballs, 21 Jump StreetAnd Lego MovieWeintraub asked if their vision would be something else in the near future. Getting straight to the point, Lord said that while they were “trying not to get attached to anything,” he went on to say that they were “very excited about a bunch of our future projects.” While anyone could stop there and just throw us a broad and undetailed view of what’s to come, Lorde also threw in the headline: Hail Mary Project. “We are especially pleased Hail Mary ProjectLorde says, adding that they will of course wait for the writers to get the better of the strike before they go ahead.

What Hail Mary Project?

In Weir’s book, the story centers around a junior high school teacher named Ryland Grace who comes out of a coma. Unsure of his surroundings due to a case of amnesia, he slowly begins to piece together his past, remembering that he was enlisted as an astronaut and sent to a solar system 12 light years away to prevent the end of humanity. As we reported back in 2020, Lord and Miller have hired Drew Goddard to help them write the film script, which was picked up by MGM. While, Ryan Gosling was attached to the lead role, but now that it’s been three years since the last whisper, who knows how things might turn out.

What we do know is that we now have another Lord and Miller title that we look forward to as the team prepares to launch into space with Hail Mary Project.
