It feels like now every month there is a new scary success story for horror fans. April was no different, as it belonged to the dead in The Evil Dead Rise. Fifth entry in Evil Dead franchise under management Lee Cronin quickly became the highest-grossing film in the series, grossing over $100 million worldwide on a budget of only $17 million in its first three weeks. Now Height is available digitally, and to celebrate the home release of the horror film, Warner Brothers released a 10-minute preview of the film online.
Exclusively released by Fandango, the first episode in Height pretty unique in that it’s actually the end of the story. It features a classic franchise in which young people go to a creepy-looking cabin in the woods for the weekend to make horror fans feel comfortable. Emphasis on the word “feel” because Height creatively undermines expectations and quickly leaves for the crazy city. In this vibrant scene where the sun only heightens the horror, the drone and the title card rising from the depths of hell are your worst nightmare. This is the last time you see the sun again in this movie, which makes the basic gothic setting of the dilapidated apartment building all the more terrifying.
What The Evil Dead Rise ABOUT?
After the chilling title card, we are introduced to the main plot of the story, two estranged sisters named Beth and Ellie, played by Lily Sullivan And Alyssa Sutherland. We see a teaser of the two’s relationship during the final part of the preview and why Ellie is reunited with her sister, but there’s a lot more nuance to it than meets the eye. However, their family reunion quickly turns into chaos when Ellie’s kids find the Necronomicon under their soon-to-be-destroyed house. The dead are released and possess Ellie’s soul, causing Beth to try to save her sister before it’s too late. This is one disturbing story about motherhood and how Beth and Ellie bond in the opening scene. Evil Dead the fan’s jaw hit the floor. Height is yet another critical and box office success for contemporary horror that helps to make a convincing case that this horrific genre is the healthiest of them all.
