Some actors boast long résumés and fans can list numerous movies or TV shows they know them from… but others are a different story. Some actors, while very good, are only remembered for one big successful project.
Being a “one-hit wonder” is certainly no comment on acting talent. Sometimes they become so typical because of their successful role that the audience simply does not see them as anything else, or they play this role for so long that they practically become synonymous with it. Whatever the reason, Reddit users agree that these actors are on the “one wonder” list.
10 Ellen Pompeo - Grey’s Anatomy
For a show that will run for 19 seasons, it’s no easy feat, but it’s an even more incredible feat to be on the show for all these years. Ellen Pompeo really played the main character Meredith Gray on Grey’s Anatomy from day one and she has been the driving force behind the success of the show.
For better or worse, after being on the show for so long, this has become what Ellen Pompeo is known for, and it never seemed like she was venturing into other projects, choosing instead the stability of a successful show. Redditor RepulsiveMatter2333 said, “Ellen Pompeo… she’s been stuck with Gray for so long without getting out of this bubble.”

Reddit user Business-Tourist6292 says, “For Nina Dobrev, nothing she’s done stands out in the same way, and I think The Vampire Diaries is probably her only truly successful role.”

“I did it?” This iconic line was on every TV in the 90s from the hit family sitcom. Family values. Jalil White played Steve Urkel, an annoying but sweet neighbor who the audience fell in love with.

5 Fran Drescher - Nanny
The outfits, the voice, the comedy… what more could you want from a sitcom about a young woman from Queens? Fran Drescher not only starred, but also produced and created a popular TV series Nanny.
Despite the projects she’s been involved in since the show ended in 1999, it’s hard to imagine her doing anything else, and some fans even want her to return to the role in a sequel. Redditor OneGoodRib says: “Fran is a good choice. She’s done other sitcoms, but they were all terrible and not for that long, and she’s been in movies that were terrible too.”
4 Michael C. Hall - Dexter
Audiences love serial killers, and they especially liked the star killer in dexter. Michael S. Hall played the title character for all eight seasons of the show as a serial killer with a double life working for the police at his day job.
Fans loved Hall as that character, but just didn’t see him work as anyone else, despite his skill and talent. Redditor TvManiac5 said: “Michael C. Hall. His performance as Dexter was brilliant, but I don’t think I’ve seen him in anything other than one Harlan Coben limited series where he was just fine.”

Reddit user LiveFromNewYork95 says, “Jeremy Piven spent 2005-2010 as a castle for Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG nominations for Entourage, but was never nominated for any of those three awards for performance outside of Entourage, even with a number of television gears. loans”.

As Reddit user jblanch3 says, “Right after Heartburn Notice, he had some pretty good roles. I know he was in Sicario and Clint Eastwood made him in a couple of his films. But yeah, he never made it to the next level. don’t think about it at all, it’s just the crap that Hollywood is.”
