The series began filming in October 2022, and usually, star Wars the show took just over a full year to reach an audience. Thus, the production dates coincide, as well as the release dates. No, the trailer for The Acolyte hasn’t been posted online yet, and likely won’t be anytime soon. However, the first trailer was shown at Star Wars Celebration Europe back in April, and Collider released a description of the footage shown.

trailer opened with Lee Yung-Je as a Jedi Master teaching a class of young adults at the Jedi Temple. The trailer also showed a first look at the star of the series. Amandla Stenberg like a masked warrior who has entered into a brawl with Carrie Ann Moss”Jedi Knight. While the High Republic is an era of mostly peace, it’s clear that conflict is brewing as Jedi across the galaxy prepare to face mysterious threats from all sides.

Who is in the cast of Acolyte?

Amandla-Stenberg-The-Acolyte-Interview

If you’ve been worried that the show’s cast won’t be able to pull off this amazing mystery thriller, you can dispel that fear right away. One of the absolute superstars of the actresses involved Carrie-Anne Moss (Matrix), who will play the Jedi. The main character is played Amandla Stenberg (The hate you give), who will be the former Padawan that the show will focus on. Two male protagonists Lee Jung Jae (squid game), who will play the Jedi Master and Manny Jacinto (A good place). While we don’t know much about Jacinto’s character, the actor told Collider that he won’t wield a lightsaber like some of his co-stars:

“He is a citizen, he is a guy in this galaxy who is being pulled into this big mission within the High Republic and the Jedi. So whether he likes it or not, he’s kind of in this world.”

The show also features actors and actresses of all ages, including Daphne Keen (Logan) And Jody Turner-Smith (After Yang). Turner-Smith revealed to Collider an interesting detail about her character:

“Oh, you know what I’m allowed to say? Guess what I’m allowed to say? That I am truly powerful. I use the Force, but I’m not a Jedi or a Sith. […] Do whatever you want with this information.”

The-Acolyte-Joonas-Suotamo-Interview

Completing the cast, we Rebecca Henderson (Russian doll), who will play fan-favorite character Vernestra Rvo, Charlie Barnett (Russian doll), Dean Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones), Joonas Suotamo (Solo: A Star Wars Story) as Wookiee Jedi Master Kelnakk, and Margarita Levieva (Adventureland).

It should be noted that apart from the three main characters, we are not sure how many of these actors and actresses we will see in all episodes. It should also be noted that several of the cast are younger, so we could get up close and personal with Jedi Padawan training, or even more memories of Yoda training them (or at least we hope).

What do we know about the plot of The Acolyte?

We have several sources of information about the plot Acolyte, including some released kit images, official description and of course speculation from those close to star Wars galaxy. We’ve already seen some shots from sources that have given us some insight into the physical scenery, including the city, which has yet to be identified. It is important to note that the production appears to be using more traditional filmmaking techniques rather than a full LED screen which shows, for example, Boba Fett book widely used. Some people prefer the look Andor because it uses a more traditional approach, but both methods have their advantages and disadvantages.

In an interview with Collider, Stenberg talked about filming with physical sets rather than volume.

“Something technical that I can talk about, I thought that because of how The Mandalorian filmed, we would shoot in volume, but we shoot on practical shootings. So probably what shocked me the most was that I was walking around these huge practical sets that were created specifically for our world. I have never had such an experience. Of course, in my career I have been on amazing sets, but there is nothing like it.”

The official synopsis for the show is as follows:

The Acolyte is a detective thriller that takes viewers into a galaxy of dark mysteries and new dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with his Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they face are far more sinister than they realized.

This show spans a never-before-seen era from the Disney-created canon, the High Republic era. At the time of this writing, no show, live or animated, has covered this era. Chronologically, the action of the series will take place 100 years before the events Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, so many beloved characters like Count Dooku, Qui-Jon Jin and Obi-Wan Kenobi haven’t even been born yet. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t see familiar faces, as Jedi Masters Yoda, Yaddle and others are still alive at this time. We also know that Palpatine’s teacher, Darth Plagueis, was also alive during this period, so we might have a chance to see the creation of Darth Sidious (which would make the reference to “sinister” forces a great pun).

Who makes Acolyte?

Leslye-Headland-The-Acolyte-Interview

Acolyte created Leslie Headlandwho is known as a co-creator of Netflix. Russian doll. Chris Teague And James Friend are filmmakers. Kognada (After Yang) And Alex Garcia Lopez (daredevil) are also assigned as episode directors for the series.

How many episodes does The Acolyte have and how long is it?

Star-Wars-The-High-Republic

There are a total of eight episodes in the upcoming series. These episodes don’t have an official runtime, as Disney+ rarely gives runtimes this far before release, especially when the show hasn’t even finished filming yet. That being said, we can hope the series will average around 30 minutes with each episode, giving us around four hours of High Republic content to explore.

Will The Acolyte have a season 2?

So far, the show has many elements that should show the evolution of the Republic through its renaissance equivalent, which is essentially what the High Republic period was for a galaxy far, far away. This is a period in which Disney has invested significant resources and we can expect this trend to continue. That being said, we haven’t had any word on a potential second season for Acolyte or even other ongoing projects set in this era. That’s not to say it can’t be, just that it can be determined based on the success of the show’s first season.
