If you are impressed by the visuals Denis Villeneuvefirst Dune movie, get ready to experience more thrills and surprises when the sequel hits theaters later this year. As confirmed today during the Warner Bros. panel at CinemaCon, Dune: Part Two was filmed entirely in IMAX. In comparison, only 40% of the first part was filmed in this format, which gives a completely new look to the second part of the story featuring Timothy Chalamet as Paul Atreides. During an exclusive interview with Collider, the director had previously indicated that he wanted to continue experimenting with the format. Here’s what Villeneuve had to say about the use of IMAX cameras during the film’s production. Dune: Part Two:
Definitely. [Cinematographer] Greig Frazier and I, we fell in love with this format, and definitely there will be IMAX footage in this film, and maybe more. Definitely.
In the first film, Paul was a very shy man who was stalked by a girl who visited him in his dreams while he was trying to learn how to control the Voice. The ability he inherited from his mother (Rebecca Ferguson) obtained from the Council of Witches, Voice allows the user to issue firm commands to anyone who hears them. True power lies in the fact that a person who is ordered to do something actually does it, whether he wants it or not. Although Paul struggled to use it at first, he was able to get his mother and himself out of a dangerous situation with this skill.
The whole story takes place in the context of a government that rules over several different planets in a galaxy very far from ours. Paul was supposed to free the Fremen from the people who took their home and resources, but he did not count on a meeting with Chani (Zendaya). In the vision, the girl of her dreams seemed to be calling out to him, but she was just an idea that Paul dreamed of. But now he has a mysterious character in front of him, and their relationship will determine the future of their universe. Paul will try to avenge his father’s death (performed by Oscar Isaac in the first movie) and defeat the evil Emperor (Christopher Walken).
Sequel Expectation Management
After the premiere of the first film in cinemas, accompanied by flattering reviews and numerous academic award nominations, Warner Bros. and Villeneuve was a hit. WITH Austin Butler And Florence Pugh As he joins the action, the director is fully aware of the huge anticipation that fans and the general public have for his upcoming sequel. During an interview with Collider, Villeneuve noted that working on a second film comes with a certain amount of pressure:
First, it was more about making sure we landed in peace and that the film would be accepted. Now we need to make sure that we can close this first book, so there are some prerequisites that are in the first movie that I need to ignore. So yeah, I guess I’d say there’s more pressure in a way with the second one.
