Watch the trailer for the second season of the series “The Bear”

The first teaser trailer was shown unexpectedly during the broadcast of the 95th Academy Awards on March 12. The short but sweet footage showed the film crew packing up and fixing up the Beef. From Marcus (Lionel Boyes) cleaning out his dessert station in Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) by smashing a wall with a sledgehammer, it’s clear that there’s a big change going on in Carmi’s vision of Bear as a new restaurant. Season 1 revolved around Carmi trying to pick up the pieces of his family’s restaurant following the death of his brother Michael. After dealing with his professional and personal difficulties, the second season will focus on Carmi’s hopeful plans for his The Bear restaurant, which will be The Beef’s new successor. He’s about to open a restaurant with the same ragtag kitchen team that has grown to welcome him and accommodate his improved management practices. Most importantly, Carmi shares his ambitious vision with Sidney, his trusted sous chef, who helps the restaurant navigate its rough patches.

While the ending of the first season was poignant and optimistic, the second season is likely to promise the same fast-paced chaos as the attempt to manage the business and passion of a brand new restaurant. Carmi will have to rely on both his work family and blood family due to the fact that he is still working through his grief with his brother and his unhealthy work-life balance. Due to the expanded order of episodes, the second season features more supporting characters from the ensemble, such as Tina (Lisa Colon-Zayas) or even Neil Fak (Matty Matheson), perhaps their backgrounds will be further explored.

In a recent interview with Variety, co-showrunner Joanna Kahlo shared the following about the new season:

Season 2 will focus on hospitality, caring for others, and make the cast’s lives a little bit bigger. At the center, Carmi will still reel from the death of his brother and his own demons well into Season 2.

Storer also added that:

Season 2 is really about being able to start over and what that means. What does Carmen and Sydney’s dream restaurant look like? But at the same time, what should a dream restaurant look like in 2023? I think that’s what they sort of struggle with.
