The slasher film, which follows Vinnie and Piglet’s murderous exploits as they cut through the Hundred Acre Forest, was a hit in Mexican theaters in its first weeks, grossing nearly a million dollars at the box office, according to an exclusive Hollywood Reporter article. this certainly bodes well for the film’s upcoming wider release. The film is slated for a worldwide release on February 15, 2023.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey this is a gory version of the beloved children’s book series Winnie the Poohwhich originated in 1921. The franchise follows the misadventures of the anthropomorphic teddy bear Winnie the Pooh and his ragtag band of friends who all live together in the Hundred Acre Wood. They are frequented by Christopher Robin, a little boy whose imagination brought his various toys to life. Stories Winnie the Pooh have been entertaining children for over a hundred years.

And the honey-loving yellow bear maintained a spotlessly clean image until 2022, when the property went public. Seizing the opportunity to broaden the mind of the bear, director Rhys Frake-Waterfield quickly put together a micro-budget slasher Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, which made a splash on the internet last year with its unorthodox premise. The film follows Vinnie and Piglet on a bloody rampage as they go on a bloody rampage after Christopher Robin “leaves” them when he leaves for college.

The film was made on a measly budget of $15,000 and it looks like the investment has paid off. A sequel to the film is already in development. The film was produced by low-budget British horror banner Jagged Edge Productions. The film was originally supposed to be released digitally. However, the film’s quirky concept and viral internet success soon gave distributors a reason to bet on the honey (and blood) loving bear.

The film was originally scheduled for a worldwide release on February 15, 2023, with Fathom Events scheduling the film’s one-day release in US theaters. However, its recent box office success in Mexico, coupled with its continued online success, led Fathom Events to expand its US launch to 1,500 sites. The film will also be released in the UK, Japan, Spain, Australia and New Zealand. The film will also be released in South and Central America. Check out the trailer below:
