The long-awaited film is set to release next summer, but Total Film has released some new photos from the film featuring the stars. Cillian Murphy as J. This is Murphy’s fifth film with Nolan after The Dark Knight trilogy, Dunkirk as well as Originalthough this is the first time he takes on the role of the protagonist for the director and is backed by an outstanding cast. Nolan both adapted the script and produced the film himself. Murphy previously told Variety about his role in the film: “I prepared by reading a lot. I’m interested in a man and what [inventing the atomic bomb] does in relation to the individual. The mechanics of this aren’t quite for me - I don’t have the intellectual ability to figure them out - but these conflicting characters are adorable.”
The film was shot in IMAX format, traditionally now for Nolan, and also partially in black and white, by the cameraman Hoyt van Hoytema who previously collaborated with the director on features such as Interstellar, Dunkirk, as well as Dogma. The film marks Nolan’s first collaboration with Universal, recently ending a 20-year partnership with Warner Bros. Studios after the release on Dogma summer 2020.
