In mid-September last year, the European Parliament adopted a directive on an adequate minimum wage in the European Union. Will the minimum wage increase by more than PLN 600?

The directive applies to all workers in the EU who have an employment contract or employment relationship. It follows that Member States must fix the minimum wage. It could be 50 or 60 percent. average gross salary.

The implementation of the directive was announced in an interview with Super Express by Deputy Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy Stanislav Shved. – As a member of the EU, we are moving towards European conditions with earnings. We fully implement the European Minimum Wage Directive. First we need to change the current rules - the Swede said.

As a reminder, the current minimum wage is PLN 3,490 gross, which is 50% of gross wages. the average wage in the enterprise sector (due to high inflation, the lowest wage in the country will rise to PLN 3,600 gross in July this year).

SuperExpress reports that due to the current minimum wage being 50% of the average wage, the government is considering setting it at a higher level, such as 60% of the average wage. If such a decision is made now, the minimum wage will increase from PLN 3,490 to PLN 4,130, i.e. by as much as PLN 640. “We can handle everything.” - sums up the deputy head of the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy in an interview with the tabloid.
