One billion zlotys will flow to Poland. The Prime Minister told what they will be used for

A two-day EU summit began in Brussels. The heads of state and government will discuss, in particular: the supply of ammunition to Ukraine and energy prices. Mateusz Morawiecki announced that he wanted to raise five topics, including tightening sanctions so that Russia would no longer use Belarus to bypass them.

The summit began at 11:30 with a meeting with UN Secretary General António Guterres. The head of government told journalists who spoke with Mateusz Morawiecki a few minutes before the meeting that much attention would be paid to the initiative of Poland and the European Commission regarding the abducted Ukrainian children.

Services market, tax havens, Belarus – Morawiecki wants to talk about this in Brussels

Mateusz Morawiecki also spoke about other issues that he would like to discuss today and tomorrow with the politicians present in Brussels.

- The second point is the use of funds from the European Peace Fund in the amount of more than 3 billion euros. According to him, Poland has already received 200 million zloty from this fund to refinance the purchase of weapons for warring Ukraine.

He added that our country is asking for another 240 million euros, so 1 billion zlotys will probably flow to Poland in the next few weeks. I think I will announce it before Easter,” he said.

- The third topic is Belarusian issues. Belarus is serving Russia as a “sanction evasion mechanism” for dual-use goods such as drones and electronics. We warn against this, tighten sanctions, point out the very bad role of Belarus in the conflict in Ukraine,” Morawiecki said.

The Prime Minister mentioned the relocation of the Spanish company Ferrovial

The fourth area of negotiations, which is of particular interest to the prime minister, is the discussion of the single European market.

– Our common market is a great asset for Polish entrepreneurs and employees. We want it to cover a wider range of services market, which is fragmented today. It is in the interests of Polish entrepreneurs that the service market be open to Polish construction, information and service companies from various industries. Entrepreneurs who work in these industries know perfectly well how important it is to provide services without any problems,” the head of government explained.

The prime minister also wants to talk about “tax integrity”, that is, the fight against tax havens. As an example of situations that should not arise, he pointed to the decision of the Spanish transport and infrastructure company Ferrovial to move its headquarters from Madrid to the Netherlands. I think it’s worth banging your head against this rubber wall, because we can implement additional solutions that will seal the system, he said.
