Minister Anna Moscow announced that the government had decided to freeze gas tariffs. The head of the Ministry of Climate reported on the cost of decisions.
The government will take decisions aimed at freezing gas prices for individuals at the level from 2022. This is supposed to be done on the basis of maintaining gas tariffs for 2023 at the current level.
“The principle of a frozen gas tariff will apply to everyone, regardless of the income threshold,” said Climate and Environment Minister Anna Moskva.
Gas compensation for the poorest
Interestingly, the minister also mentioned a decision that had not been mentioned before. In addition, the government decided to introduce special material assistance for the poorest segments of the population, who are most affected by rising energy prices.
– In addition, there will be a surcharge for gas for the poorest. The cost of the gas law for 2023 is about PLN 30 billion, Minister Anna Moskva said.
The Ministry of Climate and Environment estimates that around 300,000 households in Poland will be eligible for gas. The ability to apply for the payment will depend on the monthly income of the household, which cannot exceed PLN 1.5-2 thousand. zł per person. Accurate data on this subject has not yet been provided.
Additional analysis required
Recall that the government should have made a decision on maximum gas prices already at a meeting of the Council of Ministers, which took place on November 23. However, after the meeting, the government said work on the bill had been shelved because, according to an official statement, these decisions required “additional analyses.”
