European solidarity does not always look the way it should. It turns out that not all EU countries have refused Russian gas supplies.

In recent months, EU countries have significantly increased LNG orders from Qatar, the US and other destinations. Orders spurred by a fear of winter, combined with a lack of supplies from Russia, led to warehouses filling up quickly and LNG carriers lining up in front of regasification terminals. The situation was quickly reflected in gas prices in the European market, which fell sharply.

Greece buys from Russia

However, not all EU countries show solidarity in cutting off Russia from the sources of financing the war in Ukraine. It turns out that the only EU country that has not stopped ordering liquefied gas from Gazprom is Greece. According to the Russian daily newspaper Kommersant, the third batch of LNG from Gazprom’s plants located on the Baltic Sea is on its way to the Greek Revitus terminal.

These factories are currently fulfilling orders for only two recipients. One of them is a gas terminal in Kaliningrad, the other is Greece.

Not only gas cylinders

According to the publication, the Russian gas carriers Pskov and Veliky Novgorod were spotted at the Greek gas terminal on October 3 and November 16. Now Pskov is on a different course towards the Mediterranean.

However, Greece buys Russian gas not only in liquefied form. According to Kommersant’s information, the government in Athens also continues to order gas, which Gazprom supplies via gas pipelines. The press service did not want the Russian concern to answer questions about deliveries to Greece, did not want to answer.
