Holidays this year are marked by confusion with sugar. 89.9% have recently heard of a shortage of sugar in stores. Poles, but only 36.2 percent. of them have physically encountered this problem in institutions – according to a survey conducted by UCE RESEARCH and SYNO Poland. Trading networks, which at some point decided to introduce a card system, also contributed their “three rubles” to inciting panic.
And although there is no real fear that there will be a shortage of sugar - it is produced on schedule and delivered to stores on schedule - there are quite a few people who decide to stock up in large quantities. Fraudsters lurk behind gullible buyers, as a resident of the Sokolsky district found out.
She bought 26 bags of sugar. she was deceived
His story, as an edification to other people, is described by the Podlasie police. It all started with a “promotional” offer on an advertising portal. The 44-year-old woman took the opportunity and immediately ordered a huge amount of sugar. She was to receive 26 bags of 25 kg each. She sent the seller an advance payment for the purchase - almost a thousand zlotys. However, when the money arrived at the seller’s account, his hearing disappeared. The woman did not receive the goods and the scammer broke the connection.
What to look for when shopping online?
Police advise following the principle of limited trust when shopping online. You should check the store and the seller and not fall for super promotions that can become bait for naive buyers. That’s not all. “When paying by credit card, please note that the Internet connection is secure and that the data we send will not be used by unauthorized persons” the police warn.
The officers also advise, if there is any doubt about the trustworthiness of the seller, it is worth making an appointment “Private collection” or choose payment options, even if a few zlotys more expensive, but safer “Payment on delivery”. “If the seller does not have such an option, let him raise his vigilance” - keep the form.
