The compact SUVs from Mercedes-AMG have undergone a facelift that brings a number of innovations, combined with an expanded range of standard equipment. Visual highlights include a new front fascia with AMG logo and updated signatures for the front and rear lights.
The GLA 35 4MATIC and GLB 35 4MATIC are now equipped with a belt driven starter generator (RSG) and an additional 48 volt on-board electrical system. The second generation RSG functions as a mild (mild) hybrid and, in addition to a temporary power increase of 10 kW (14 hp) .), provides efficiency-enhancing functions such as coasting and recuperation. The 48V technology also enhances comfort – the Start/Stop system and coasting functions are virtually invisible.
A 225 kW (306 hp) high-torque 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo engine powers all four wheels via an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 8G transmission and AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Sporty performance and handling are combined here with a wide range of driving modes.
Interior with the latest generation of MBUX
The latest generation AMG Performance steering wheel is standard on the updated GLA and GLB. The AMG steering wheel buttons have clear displays and intuitive operation. The driver can access important functions and all driving programs without taking their hands off the rim.
The MBUX infotainment system also debuts with AMG-specific interface design and enhanced features. Apple Car Play and Android Auto can be connected wirelessly. Connectivity is enhanced with higher USB charging power and an optional USB-C port.
Mercedes-Benz compact SUVs also get a range of advanced driver assistance systems such as Active Lane Keeping Assist, which improves driving comfort by intervening in the steering instead of activating ESP. The next generation of the parking package supports parallel parking and offers 360-degree visualization with 3D images.
New options for all variants
Newly designed light alloy wheels are available for the AMG GLA and GLB, including 19-inch 10-spoke wheels in matt black and 20-inch 5-twin-spoke wheels also in matt black.
There is also new upholstery available for the standard sports or AMG Performance seats (available as an option for the GLA. This is a combination of Artico synthetic leather and Microcut microfiber, now also available in Bahia brown). Artico upholstery debuts in a new shade of sage gray and upholstery leather is available for the first time in a combination of red and black, and a new feature in the range of finishes is open-pore linden brown wood.
