Severe flooding hit northern Italy. Heavy rains caused 14 rivers to overflow their banks. The Emilia-Romagna region was particularly affected. Entire towns and villages are flooded here. Several quarters in Bologna were under water. Flooding forced the cancellation of the Italian leg of the Formula 1 race.
Local authorities report eight dead so far. About ten people are considered missing. But this is not the final data.
The evacuation is in full swing in the region. Thousands of people were forced to leave their homes. They have to be removed from the roofs by helicopters. Unfortunately, rooftops are currently the only safe place in the affected areas.
The mayor of the city of Ravenna, Michele de Pascale, told reporters that this is the worst flood in the history of the Emilia-Romagna region. Only from Ravenna in the morning 5 thousand people were evacuated. And the rescue operation continues.

This is the second flood in May in the region. The first occurred at the beginning of the month and was not so devastating. Then two people died.
