The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine told what goal the Russians are pursuing with videos of the executions of the Ukrainian military.
Two tasks of the occupiers were announced by the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Andrey Yusov.
In particular, the GUR is convinced that the executions and the subsequent publication of their atrocities are the state policy of Russia and has two tasks.
First - intimidate Ukrainians who see these videos.
Second - discourage their desire to surrender.
“The publication of this video is evidence that such a genocidal policy, such a policy of war crimes, is state policy. Since propaganda in Russia is centralized, the periodic publication of such atrocities of the Russian military that we observe, we have recently seen the execution of a Ukrainian fighter for the slogan “Glory to Ukraine”, this is a deliberate state policy of Russia to highlight the atrocities of its army against Ukrainians, against the Ukrainian military. The purpose of this policy is to try to sow panic in the Ukrainian Defense and Security Forces. But the goal is also to intimidate their fighters, they say, “do not think to surrender, because in Ukrainian captivity they will do to you the same as we do to them,” Yusov said.
Despite such videos, Yusov notes that Ukraine continues to comply with the Geneva Conventions and takes the invaders prisoner without such reprisals.
