The 47-year-old winner of the Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA and Emmy awards posted a joint statement on Instagram with her husband Jim Toth:
“We have personal news to share… After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to leave. We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and now we move on with a sense of deep love, kindness and universal respect for what we have created together. Our main concern is our son and our entire family at this moment when we open a new chapter for ourselves. Such cases are always difficult and deeply personal. We will gratefully accept everyone’s respect for our privacy at this time. Reese and Jim.
Marriage Witherspoon with 52-year-old Thoth was considered one of the strongest in Hollywood. On March 26, Reese and Jim’s friends intended to congratulate them on their 12th wedding anniversary. The announcement of the divorce two days before the event stunned everyone who knows the couple. The reason for this decision is still unknown.
This is the second divorce for Witherspoon. Her first husband was the famous actor Ryan Phillippe. They starred together in the film Cruel Intentions (1999).
