Igor Klymenko became the new Minister of Internal Affairs. The decision on his appointment was made today at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on February 7, said Yaroslav Zheleznyak, MP from Golos.

What is known about Igor Klimenko
The new head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was born in 1972 in Kyiv. After graduating from Kharkov Military University in 1994, he went to serve in the army. In 2013 he defended his Ph.D. thesis in psychology, in 2019 - his doctoral thesis.
Klimneko’s service in the internal affairs bodies began in 1998. He took his first high position in 2015, heading the Human Resources Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
Two years later, Klymenko was appointed deputy chairman of this department, and in 2019 he became chairman of the National Police of Ukraine.
Recall that on January 18, 2023, a terrible tragedy occurred in Brovary near Kyiv. The helicopter of the State Emergency Service fell on one of the residential microdistricts of the city (near the kindergarten). As a result of the disaster, 14 people died, including a child and the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who were on board the helicopter. Among the leaders of the ministry, the minister, the first deputy minister and the state secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were killed. In connection with the tragedy, the causes of which are being investigated to this day, the government appointed the head of the National Police, Igor Klymenko, as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and entrusted him with the duties of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
