The women’s freestyle wrestling team of Ukraine for the first time in history won the team World Cup, held in Coralville (Iowa, USA).
At the group stage, Andrey Stadnik’s wards defeated Mongolia (7:3) and Japan (with a score of 5:5, ours took over, because they scored more points). In the decisive confrontation, the “yellow-blues” met with strong Chinese women, who outstripped the teams of the USA and the rest of the world in the group. In the super-tense final, the Ukrainians broke the resistance of their rivals (6:4) and won the trophy.
The winners of the World Cup in the national team of Ukraine were Oksana Livach (50 kg), Albina Rilla (53 kg), Alina Grushina-Akobia (55 kg), Julia Tkach-Ostapchuk (57 kg), Irina Bondar (59 kg), Irina Kolyadenko (62 kg), Ekaterina Zelenykh (65 kg), Tatiana Owl-Ryzhko (68 kg), Alla Belinskaya (72 kg) and Anastasia Osnyach-Shustova (76 kg).
It should be noted that the last time our girls climbed the podium of the Wrestling World Cup in 2005, when they won silver in France (and before that there was bronze KS-2002 in Egypt). Now Ukraine has joined the company of three world giants who previously managed to win the World Cup - Japan (11 times), China (6) and the USA (1).
Earlier reported that the captain of the Ukrainian national volleyball team Oleg Plotnitsky won the club world championship in the “Perugia”.
