In the summer of 2022, the Russian special services announced the illegal “opening” in Damascus of the so-called “representative office” of the Nikitsky Botanical Garden, which was criminally “nationalized” by the aggressor in 2014. Sergei Khokhlov and his fictitious “deputy” Alexander Grib were elected “chairman of the representative office”. It was pointed out that the “chief” really used to work in the botanical garden, in Yalta Nikita, in the direction of diseases of olive trees, the Association for the Reintegration of Crimea reports.
“Now Khokhlov gave an “interview” to the Crimean “media” controlled by the aggressor, in which he tried to prove the “importance and usefulness” of the work of his fake “representation” in Syria.
Instead of the promised “research and work” in Latakia, destroyed by the war and the crimes of the Assad regime, where the climate and vegetation are somewhat similar to Crimean ones, the fake “representation” now “rents a small office in Damascus” and sometime “later” plans to “move to the premises of the local university”. Khokhlov directly states the absence in modern Syria of both scientific personnel and a research base, but he is obviously “ashamed” to name the reasons for such a collapse. He does not even plan to do any work on the topic of the botanical garden “Khokhlov’s farm”; at the same time, the “botanist” himself and his curators from the special services still found an unpretentious source of income in Damascus. According to Khokhlov, his certain equipment allegedly “will allow the Syrians to check their export products (fruits, vegetables, berries)”, that is, to ensure that they meet Russian state standards.“.
According to experts, in fact, the “representative office” plans to engage in a corrupt scheme for “certifying” agricultural export products from Syria, which Russian propaganda has been enthusiastically talking about for many years. The second task of the representation in the interview was the search for Syrians for their education in the Crimean and Sevastopol universities.
