As a result of the shelling by the Russian army of a maternity hospital in the Volnyansk Zaporozhye region on the night of November 23, a two-day-old baby died. His mother survived. She, along with the maternity hospital doctor, was pulled out from under the rubble. So far, it has become known that the injured doctor, obstetrician-gynecologist Andrei Kozin, is in intensive care. He spent several hours under the rubble and miraculously survived. Colleagues and friends do everything to help him.
“You make a bunch of reposts that a baby died today after the shelling of a maternity hospital in the city of Volnyansk. This is just a horror and a complete loss for the mother of this child! I can’t and don’t even want to imagine how hard it is for her now … In this photo - Doctor Andrey Kozin, who worked in this maternity hospital. He is alive, but he spent more than two hours under the rubble, from where rescuers got him out with great difficulty! The family needs help. The doctor needs to recover in order to help further a new life to be born! I have known Andrey personally for many years, since I studied at the university. Let’s help!” – Posted on Instagram by a colleague of the injured doctor.
Vitaliy Kostenko, an obstetrician-gynecologist from Dnipro, also called on his Instagram to help the injured colleague, specifying that Andriy Kozin had about 30 percent of his body burned and his legs were broken.
- Andrei is in intensive care, but he is conscious, - Andrey Kozin’s colleague Ilona told FACTS. - Andrei’s brother Maxim says that Andrei has 37 to 40 percent of his body surface affected, including his face. His condition is now assessed as moderate. After Maxim personally talks with the doctors, we will know more … We really hope that Andrey will recover. Over the past day, many of his patients have written to me - they are very worried about him. He has helped hundreds of children to be born.
I met Andrey back in my student years, when we studied together at the Zaporozhye State Medical University. Then together they entered the internship in obstetrics and gynecology. After graduation, they kept in touch mainly in social networks. He has been working at the maternity hospital in Volnyansk for a very long time - as far as I remember, he came there almost immediately after his internship.
He stayed there during the war. Despite the fact that the Zaporozhye region is constantly shelled by the occupiers, Andrei Kozin, according to his colleagues, did not even think about leaving for a safer region.
- I think he didn’t leave because he couldn’t leave his patients Ilona says. - I was written by women who gave birth to him or were in the hospital. Everyone speaks of Andrew with great gratitude. I think he could not go anywhere, knowing that he was needed here. The fact that on the night when the Russians fired at the maternity hospital, it was Andrei who was on duty, I learned from his friend. Now we all, friends and colleagues, want to help him. The treatment itself, as far as we know, is free, but rehabilitation and many other costs lie ahead. Therefore, we will be grateful to everyone who wants to help and report the bank card number of his brother Maxim: 4149 4991 4873 25 46 (Kozin Maxim Andreevich).
