Recently, heat saboteurs were detained in Kyiv, whose targets were the capital’s thermal power plant. And here is the new message. The Zolotonosha City Court of the Cherkasy region sentenced a local resident for treason. This became known from the materials of the case of the state register.
The accused is a deputy and liquidator of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. On May 11, a representative of the FSB of the Russian Federation wrote on Viber to a Ukrainian with a proposal for confidential cooperation in the interests of this special service for a monetary reward. The man agreed to the collection and subsequent transfer of information about the Cherkasy region, writing a message with the following content: “Yes, no problem, write what you need, I will do everything in my power“.
On the same day, when asked by a representative of the FSB of the Russian Federation whether there are any restrictions in the city of Cherkasy, the man said that the city has a curfew from 22:00 to 05:00. Further communication between both took place through personal correspondence and sending photographs, video files and screenshots with the coordinates of objects and marking them on the ground.
The first task that a resident of Cherkasy received was to find out all access points to open wi-fi networks in the central part of the city. The Ukrainian arrived at a public transport stop near the Cherkasy Regional State Administration. Using the software installed on his mobile phone, he scanned all open wi-fi networks operating along his route. All data was transferred to the enemy. For completing the task, he received a monetary reward of 2000 hryvnia. After that, the man was given the task to find out the situation that has developed in the city of Cherkasy: how many military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are there, to give all the data about the city across the Dnieper River. The Ukrainian without hesitation filmed trenches, roadblocks, collected information about the military air defense unit. This cooperation continued until the end of May.
But on June 1, the traitor was detained by employees of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Cherkasy region. He fully admitted his guilt, sincerely repented. Like, he agreed to the act because of the difficult financial situation, having earned 8,000 UAH from the FSB.
In the end, the court sentenced the man to ten years in prison without confiscation of property.
