Our representative had a very difficult fight in the fourth round with Belinda Bencic, which she won after a fierce struggle. Elina Svitolina became her rival in the 1/4 finals of the most prestigious tennis tournament. The Ukrainian showed class.

Iga Sviontek went from heaven to hell

Iga Sviontek was the undisputed favorite of the meeting with Elina Svitolina and confirmed this at the beginning of the match, breaking her opponent, and then winning her pitch to zero. This did not mean that the Ukrainian did not do her homework before the meeting. After the victory, she set very difficult conditions with her application and paid it off with a break. Both players made a lot of mistakes, because of which they lost their chances for the next points.

The 22-year-old has rarely used assisting opportunities in this way, although in previous matches it was her most dangerous weapon. In the next game, she was very close to breaking her opponent, but she did not succeed, and she had one game left to stay in this match. She managed to win it to zero, but Svitolina did not let go. She was leading 6-5 and needed a break to win the match. She did not succeed, so everything was decided by a tie-break.
