Vital Heinen gave dramatic information straight from Turkey in a recent interview. The former coach of the Polish national team admitted that the situation in this country can be compared to that in Poland, when the Ukrainians fled the war.
Vital Heinen is currently the head coach of the Turkish women’s team Nilufer Belediyespor. The team’s headquarters is located in the northwestern part of Turkey, where the tremors were not felt, so the Belgian coach is safe. This does not change the fact that neither he nor his players are currently able to play in any match due to people being injured in another part of the country.
Vital Heinen heartbroken over events in Turkey
The former selector of the Polish men’s volleyball team does not hide the fact that all people associated with the club he manages are tragic about the events in the north-east of Turkey. Some time ago, information appeared in the media that a dead couple, directly related to volleyball, was found under the rubble. The news also reached the coach.
– Fortunately, my team was not directly affected by this tragedy, but indirectly. Among the injured and injured, unfortunately, there are people from the volleyball environment. Football couple died. The Malatya BBSK men’s team was in the collapsed hotel. Several teams that were supposed to take part in the junior tournament are missing. It is difficult for all of us here to read such information,” Vital Heinen told WP Sportowe Fakty.
Vital Heinen: Everyone on my team helps
When the Belgian coach learned about the tragedy that affected the aforementioned region of Turkey, his team was training, but he immediately changed the training plans.
We have suspended all sporting events. We all went to the relief center in Bursa. There we helped load a truck with gifts for the earthquake victims. Mostly it was clothes. I feel the need to do something to help,” added the Belgian coach.
Vital Heinen compared the situation in Turkey with that which took place in Poland
According to Vitaliy Hainen, what is happening in Turkey now is comparable to the situation when Ukrainians fled to Poland to escape the war.
– I believe that this can be compared with what happened in Poland in February last year, when millions of Ukrainians fled the war. In Poland, assistance to those in need began immediately. Something similar is happening in Turkey now. Everyone is wondering what they can do for those affected. It’s touching, although, of course, I would prefer that we didn’t have to experience such social explosions.
