The Poles buried the battle ax
World Championships in Athletics 2022. “Angels” out of the final!
Polish women were devastated, but additional circumstances arose very quickly. Golub-Kovalik, who ran on the last shift, could not finish normally. Her bloody shoe and a photo of one of the Polish photojournalists served as evidence that allowed the Poles to appeal. A Canadian stepped on a Polish woman’s foot in the transition zone.
- At the beginning of the run, I didn’t really feel it. However, when I wanted to finish the last 100 meters, the pain was already huge. I felt that my leg did not give up and I could not bounce off it. However, I don’t want to throw it on its feet. This is not how this run should look like. Everything turned out wrong. He should have been completely different. The leg is just an accessory,” Golub-Kovalik said.
The Poles protested. The first one was rejected. The second was transferred to the appeal commission. There, too, the protest disappeared.
- The plan for this championship was a little different. I got the baton second and should finish second. It didn’t work out a bit. We also assumed that I would take this baton with a slightly larger advantage. This also failed. Each of the girls did their best today. This is a bucket of cold water for the head. For many years we brought medals from all competitions, and here the championships did not go to us from the very beginning, I’m not afraid to say this, - said Golub-Kovalik.
“Hearts are broken, but the fire still burns in us. Sorry! Team, we will rise!” - Baumgart-Witan wrote on social networks.
Men’s relay in the final
Their teammates were in different moods. Maximilian Klepacki, Karol Zalewski, Mateusz Rzezniczak and Kajetan Duszynski reached the final of the 4x400m relay with a time of 3.02.51. They took third place in the second qualifying run. - Maybe it looked beautiful from the outside, but the run was not easy, - said Zalewski after qualifying.
A blade with another medal! The doctor ate a bun and went for silver
On Saturday, the Poles did not improve their medal achievements and they still have four discs: a gold one and three silver ones. They are eighth in the medal standings. (Fact24, PAP)
