Kaczynski and Tusk went to Poland and strong words were spoken. The expert reveals the plan of both politicians

While visiting Oleśnica, Jarosław Kaczynski returned to his plan to create the Electoral Defense Corps, but this time additional information came from his lips. He acknowledged that each election commission should have at least two PiS supporters, which would provide a total of more than 40,000 people to ensure proper conduct of the vote. As if that weren’t enough, the rulers want to start changing the counting system itself.

- We will introduce various strictnesses so that it is impossible to do various nasty things, because we are skeptical about the results of some elections, especially local elections, - said Yaroslav Kaczynski.

He argued that these changes should make the vote count more transparent. The law that should lead to this is already being prepared.

According to political scientist Prof. Rafal Chvedoruk (53), Jarosław Kaczynski’s statements contain elements that should consolidate supporters. In today’s situation, this is extremely important, because, as Prof. Chvedoruk, the polls make rulers aware of the looming prospect of losing power.

“Meanwhile, such omissions, suggesting some other essence of the issue, can contribute to a consolidating effect, and such an effect is needed when the formation is waiting for failure and there is nowhere to expand the electorate, and you have to rely on the most faithful believers,” explains in an interview with “Actually” prof. Rafal Khvedoruk.

In the meantime, Donald Tusk devoted most of his speech to the youth of Lower Silesia to economic issues and the need to deal with rising prices as quickly as possible. However, he assured that the time for the victory of the opposition in the elections, the time for calculations, is near.

- But I know that I would not run for office at all if I thought for a moment about the “fat line” or that we will let go or forget what has happened over the past seven years. This is out of the question,” said Donald Tusk.

And although he assured the audience that after the elections he would not turn into a “bloodthirsty and vengeful guest,” rulers today must take into account that they will be dealt with by prosecutors and judges. Among the politicians who should be threatened in the first place by a settlement agreement, he mentioned the Minister of Justice Zbigniew Zebro. The billing action itself should be lengthy and require a lot of work.

- The first 100 days and 100 weeks after coming to power will require both toughness and, if necessary, ruthlessness (…). Giant work without any illusions, and in relation to those who have done some kind of evil - without any remorse, - Tusk said.

Professor Chvedoruk, indifferently watching the Civic Platform leader’s speech, has some suggestions why Donald Tusk suddenly started talking about holding the rulers accountable, although there was still a year left before the elections.

- Donald Tusk can count on becoming the number one figure among the opposition only if he has a monopoly on the calculations. I mean, he will be a symbol of the fight against PiS, because he has been leading it since 2005. In any other role, Donald Tusk is not needed, and certainly as the number one among the opposition, if only because he has an even larger negative electorate among many declared supporters. And Donald Tusk should protect his status as the main opponent of Law and Justice as the apple of his eye, and the appeal to the issue of settlements is an example of this, the political scientist explains.

The expert also points to an economic thread in the speech of the head of the NGO and believes that this may mean that the Civic Platform will want to position itself as a party that guarantees peace and normalcy. And this is reminiscent of the situation in 2007, when the same Donald Tusk spoke about “hot tap water.”

- After the global economic crisis, the roles have changed. It was a PiS with a certain social and egalitarian message that was closer to the average mindset in Polish society. And the Platform was shown out of touch with reality, discussing secondary topics. And now the “Civic Platform” with a policy of “hot water in the tap” will be the one who saves from an economic catastrophe or mitigate its consequences, and PiS are people cut off from reality, says prof. Chvedoruk.
