However, given the long investment horizon of a large power plant, the high cost of entry and the lack of in-house know-how, we lean more towards small SMRs. However, the nuclear power plant does not say “no”. This is an important diversification of energy sources. We believe that the atom will be, along with the sun and wind, a source in which Poland should invest, he emphasizes.

PSL MP Dariusz Klimczak explains that he does not like how PiS is going to implement these investments. - In my opinion, the government is going to select a contractor without competition, and I don’t know if this is a good way. I understand that we are in an energy trap and the government is trying to make a decision quickly, but we must, like the Czechs, follow the official tender procedure. Over the past seven years, the government has adopted various nuclear power concepts, but we at PSL have always supported the construction of small, safe nuclear reactors. In addition, in our energy mix, renewables should be the most important, but we are not saying no to a nuclear power plant,” says the PSL MP.

The government, however, is not moving in this direction and is not sufficiently supportive of energy transformation. And yet, if we had invested in renewable energy, onshore wind farms, energy efficiency, today we would not have such a crisis, we would not be so dependent on coal or other sources, says the MP from Levik.

- The Americans have made us an offer, and, of course, it should be considered, but this government does not inspire confidence in the development of such large investments. PiS has expanded the energy sector in Poland. He cared about the profits of his fellow companies, but not that investments serve people well. Personally, when it comes to small reactors, I treat this as an addition to the energy balance, adds Beata Maciejowska.

Urszula Zelinska, MP for the knockout club, has no doubts and opposes such investments. In an interview with Fact, he clearly argues why. - Poland does not need a nuclear power plant. There are alternative technologies that are much cheaper and much safer. I also object to the information that the government will decide within a month on accepting the proposal of one of the investors. Should it be a fair trial or an act? Poland must obtain energy from domestic resources: wind on land and at sea, solar, agricultural biogas, energy efficiency. We must make full use of these native, pure sources today. Especially at such low prices for renewable energy technologies compared to the cost of building a nuclear power plant. Poland can be completely self-sufficient without having to invest billions of zlotys and take out loans to build a nuclear power plant, MP Zelinska believes.
