Hearing strange sounds from the cockpit, the flight attendants intervened. One of them remained with the pilots in the cockpit until the end of the flight.
According to AP, the incident did not affect the course of the cruise. The background of the conflict between the pilots is unknown. One of them explained to the commission interrogating him that the “accidental blow” caused the aggravation of events. The second, on the contrary, defended himself, claiming that his friend threw a “wooden object” in his face.
The fight came to light shortly after the French civil aviation safety investigation and analysis agency BEA issued a report saying that some Air France pilots did not adhere to safety regulations too strictly.
Both pilots have been suspended and are awaiting management’s decision regarding their future.
