Created by Producer Brad Miska, V/H/S The franchise is a series of found footage from horror anthology films. Framed by a curved segment and containing several short films, each film explores horror sub-genres, from alien encounters to supernatural phenomena and human threats, scaring all horror fans.
The series is one of the most popular horror anthologies for good reason, featuring creative and chilling short films from some of the genre’s most talented filmmakers currently working, such as David Bruckner, Ti WestAnd Chloe Okuno. With so many great shorts in the franchise, there is stiff competition, but some segments manage to stand out as the very best.
10 “Ride in the Park”
Directed by A Walk in the Park Eduardo Sanchez And Gregg Halebest known for their work on The Blair Witch Project. Short film follows a cyclist (Jay Saunders), who is attacked by a group of zombies in the woods while trying to film his ride on a go-pro attached to his bike helmet, and then reanimates himself as a zombie.
The helmet-mounted camera gives the short a unique first-person perspective, allowing the story to be told from the perspective of a rampaging zombie. Telling a complete story in a short amount of time, A Ride in the Park is a gory and fast-paced short film with a great ending.
9 “Ozzy’s Dungeon”
Undoubtedly the strangest segment in W/H/S/99Ozzy’s Dungeon was filmed and co-written with a musician and director. flying lotus. The short follows Donna (Amelia Ann), a young woman who was seriously injured during a dangerous children’s game show and is now taking revenge on the host with the strong support of her family.
“Ozzy’s Dungeon” is raw, creative and completely wild, as you’d expect from Flying Lotus. Each chapter of the short builds to the point of absurdity, from the original game show to the introduction of Ozzy, the unknowable wish-granting monster, leading to a fantastically weird horror story and great plot. V/H/S segment.
8 “Parallel Monsters”
W/H/S: Viral generally considered the weakest in the series, but Nacho Vigalondo”Parallel Monsters” is undoubtedly the highlight of the film. The short follows Alfonso (Gustavo Salmeron), an inventor who successfully created a portal to a parallel universe and decides to trade places with his alternate self to explore each other’s worlds.
What unfolds in sci-fi horror shortly after Alfonso switches with his doppelgänger becomes increasingly bizarre and horrifying as the parallel Earth is revealed to be a sexually perverted and demonic realm. “Parallel monsters” are conceptual and extremely inventive, and their presence in W/H/S: Viral enhances the quality of the film that surrounds it.
7 “Pajama Party Alien Abduction”
Director Jason Eisener”Pajama Party Alien Abduction” follows a group of children and teenagers who hang out at their lakeside home before being pestered by a sudden alien invasion. Most of the short film is filmed from the point of view of a small dog with a camera strapped to its head, which further draws the attention of the audience due to the adorable character from the point of view.
The gray aliens in this segment really scare with their supernatural design and relentless pursuit of children, creating an effect of fear and discomfort in the audience. Alien Abduction at the Pajama Party is a very tense film - it’s a great piece of sci-fi horror and a very strong entry in history. V/H/S row.
6 “Terror”
One of the most underrated segments V/H/S row, Ryan Prowse”The Terror” is about right-wing extremist militias who plan to carry out a terrorist attack using a creature with explosive blood. The characters are deliberately dissimilar, and the tension in the short is created as viewers hope that the militia’s plot will somehow fail and turn against them.
The idea of using a creature with explosive blood as a bomb is interesting and creative, and the short’s exploration of political extremism is uncomfortably close to home despite the film’s 1990s setting. The Terror is a strong short horror film with a captivating premise and prophetic themes.
5 “31.10.98”
Script, staging and participation in the filming of the team. Radio Silencebest known for their work on scream The 10/31/98 franchise follows a group of young people on Halloween night when they encounter demonic phenomena in a haunted house. During the exorcism, the building begins to warp and fill with supernatural phenomena, and the protagonists decide to fight to save their lives and save the woman they are exorcising.
Radio Silence are some of the strongest horror filmmakers out there today, and this short film perfectly demonstrates their early potential. “10/31/98”, which tells the visually appealing and gripping story of a haunted house with a deliciously messy video aesthetic, is one of the standout segments of the original. V/H/S.
4 “Amateur Night”
“Amateur Night”, directed and co-written by the incredibly talented David Bruckner, is about a group of men trying to take advantage of two women in a hotel, one of them, Lily (Hanna Firman) begins to transform into a demonic form. Revealing that she is a succubus, Lily wreaks havoc among the main characters in a way that viewers can’t help but feel well deserved after the men’s sleazy behavior.
This segment is shocking and captivating, with fantastic creature effects and Fierman’s perfect and deeply uncanny performance as Lily. Amateur Night is a great short horror film that many consider to be the best part of the first part. V/H/S movie.
3 “Thunderstorm Drain”
Written and directed by a budding horror film director. Chloe Okuno”Drain” follows Holly (Anna Hopkins), a news reporter investigating a cryptid known as “Rat-Man”, who is believed to live among homeless encampments in her city’s storm drains. Eventually, to her great detriment, Holly discovers that the being (actually called Raatma) is not only real, but also worshiped as a deity.
Raatma is a top-tier horror monster with inventive design brought to life with incredible practical effects, and the short film demonstrates this very effectively. One of the most memorable short films ever V/H/S With its spooky atmosphere and instantly iconic creature, the Storm Drain series deserves praise.
2 “Item”
Screenwriter and director Timo TiajantoThe Subject is an Indonesian sci-fi/action/horror short about the transhuman experiments of a sadistic scientist (Boodie Ross), following one of its victims (Shania Shri Maharani) as she tries to survive a deadly law enforcement raid on the lab. The short features numerous human-machine hybrids and visually appealing action sequences that provide constant intrigue and thrill.
In addition to being a fantasy short horror film, The Unsub explores issues of humanity and bodily autonomy and successfully evokes sympathy in viewers for its cyborg protagonist. W/H/S/94 is one of the best films in the franchise, and The Unsub is arguably the best part of the film.
1 “Safety Zone”
Depicting one of the most terrifying cults in horror cinema, Safe Haven is about a film crew trying to make a documentary about a doomsday cult. Written and directed by Timo Tiadjanto and Gareth Evansthe short film explores the cult’s territory on the day of their predicted apocalyptic event.
Safe haven quickly turns into a violent chaos with blood, guts and demonic entities, creating the most tense atmosphere in the entire world. V/H/S franchise. With a gripping storyline and creepy horror, Safe Haven is the best segment ever. V/H/S series and one of the best short horror films of all time.
