Favorite Netflix Original Series sex education returns to our screens next month. On September 21st on the show, the students of Moordale High School will embark for the last time on a journey that began in 2019 and has spawned stars from its ensemble, including the likes of Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Nkuti GatwaAnd Emma McKee. With most of its star names gone, the streamer revealed that Season 4 will serve to wrap up the Mooresdale adventure, however it looks like there might be hope for a return in the future.
The series follows Otis Butterfield as he opens a sex therapy clinic at his school while also overcoming many of the challenges of adolescence. Receiving rave reviews compared to previous seasons, sex education I saw how the students of this school came to terms with their sexuality, capturing the minds of the public. Now, Lori Nunn, The series creator, who returned as a writer for the fourth season, has opened the door to the possibility of future spin-offs. Speaking to Netflix Tudum ahead of the upcoming final season, Nunn revealed plans to take a break after the new season airs. However, when asked if this would be the last time viewers get to interact with the fictional world, she didn’t rule out the possibility of a spin-off.
“I will definitely take a break and think about other things. But Moordale is a truly rich world, and writing about teenagers is always a lot of fun. So I think there is always potential for further exploration in this world.”
It’s time to finish
However, season 4 was not supposed to be the last in British comedy, since with the departure of key figures such as Olivia (Simone Ashley), Lily (Tanya Reynolds) and Olya (Patricia Allison), it became clear that this was the way it should be. The announcement of the departure of Gatwa and Mackey, if the show goes into a fifth season, was perhaps the final straw. Nunn said in a letter to fans, “It has become clear that now is the right time to release.”
