Come July 13, the second season of the animated series, Sonic Prime will premiere on Netflix. The first season of the series was dedicated to Blue Spot. Sonic the Hedgehog the streamer arrived late last year and is looking forward to a new season in less than a year. However, this expectation was curtailed as it was announced that while the new episodes would keep their scheduled releases, the season premiere is now available to watch on YouTube.
The full new episode titled “After the Void” is now available to watch on the official Netflix After School YouTube channel. The new season picks up where the previous one ended with the stubborn hedgehog having to deal with the consequences of his actions. Tension builds between the Shadow and Sonic pair as the former confronts the latter for the apparent destruction of Green Hill. The small screen story is based on the famous video game titular character Sonic (Deven Christian Mak) goes head to head in yet another showdown with his nemesis Dr. Eggman (Brian Drummond). Like all good stories, this encounter has a twist. During the confrontation, a mysterious crystal known as the Prism of Paradox is destroyed, and voila… The universe is destroyed and all the worlds begin to collide. Sonic soon travels through this multiverse, known locally as the Shatterverse, where the speedster meets different versions of his friends. His new quest involves collecting all the pieces of the Paradox Prism in order to fix the universe. The new versions of his friends he meets on this journey include the likes of Tails, Amy, Knuckles and Rouge,
Sonic Prime is a production created by SEGA, WildBrain and Marza - WildBrain acts as the animation studio for the series. Along with Mac and Drummond, the voice acting of the animated series includes Shannon Chan-Kent like Amy Rose Ashley Ball like tails, Adam Nurada like Knuckles Kazumi Evans like Rouge the Bat, and Jan Hanlin like Shadow and Big Cat.

The SEGA mascot has a long history of adaptations. Production Sonic Prime just another in a long line of TV adaptations. Sonic has also been the subject of film adaptations released in 2020 and 2022 respectively. Both parts were huge box office successes. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 earning $400 million at the worldwide box office. Filming for the third installment is set to begin this summer in London. Knuckles, also in the works. SEGA has announced plans to adapt more of their games in the future, and if they continue to make a profit then why not?
