7 Shoot Gilmour, right? - Season 3, Episode 7
Television has had its share of quirky cities, but Stars Hollow has a special place. The quirky city was charming and cozy, hosting numerous quirky yet sweet events that made many want to move there. Season 3 “They Shoot Gilmour, Don’t They?” includes one of these curious events, a 24-hour dance marathon that Lorelai wants to win.
The episode is funny, with Laurela’s desperation to defeat Kirk making for a fun hour of entertainment. More importantly, Rory and Dean broke up, allowing her to finally get back together with Jess after a season and a half of build-up and teen drama. With the antics of the townspeople and a healthy dose of “They shoot Gilmour, don’t they?” drama. is an all-timer.
6 It’s Strings, Pinocchio - Season 3, Episode 22
Rory’s graduation is a significant event for Gilmore girls community. The first season begins with her entering a prestigious school, meaning that viewers have been on this journey with her; seeing her achieve such special results seemed incredible, especially considering what it meant to her mother and grandparents.
Even though her graduation speech is crappy, it’s worth it if only because of Kelly Bishop and late Edward Herrmannreactions. The episode also includes Rory and Jess’ official breakup after he leaves her. Jess may have been a great guy for Rory, but his selfishness and inability to express his feelings end up sabotaging their bond. However, “These are the strings, Pinocchio” is decisive Gilmore girls an episode that fans have probably watched multiple times.
5 Fights Last Week, Pantyhose This Week - Season 4, Episode 21
Liz and TJ were somewhat annoying guest characters, but they’re the right kind of weirdos for Stars Hollow. Their renaissance-style wedding is also surprisingly cute, especially as it sets the stage for Luke and Lorelai’s first dance.
What’s more, “Fights Last Week, Pantyhose This Week” marks a major milestone in their relationship as Luke finally grows the couple out and asks Lorelai out after four full seasons. Their first dance to Sam Phillips’ “Reflecting Light” was so perfect that the song was brought back a decade later for their wedding in New York. Year in life.
4 Cloaks and Recipes - Season 4 Episode 22
The fourth-season finale, “Cloaks and Recipes,” is considered one of the show’s most dramatic episodes. Lorelai sees her dream come true and opens the Dragonfly, inviting friends and family for a long weekend as a test run. Rory’s time away from Yale is one of the most controversial storylines in the series. Her decision to drop out of college leads to her biggest fight with Lorelai when they don’t speak for two months. Rory joins the DAR and does community service, leading to Richard eventually realizing that his granddaughter is wasting her time.
The situation reaches a point of no return in the season 6 episode “We’ve Got Magic”, in which Rory organizes a fundraiser and reunites with Mitch and Shira Huntberger. Confronted by Mitcham, Richard realizes that Lorelai was right about the Huntsbergers and tells Emily about it. What follows is one of the most iconic scenes in the series, when Emily kills Shira in front of their friends. Kelly Bishop is a monstrous performer, but her barely concealed disdain as she delivers insult after insult is a beauty and a scene that fans will never tire of.
1 Friday night is good for a fight - season 6, episode 13
Once Rory leaves her grandparents’ house to return to Yale, their relationship becomes strained. It’s up to Lorelai to fix this, and she forces her family to have dinner on a Friday night and set it all on the table. The extended sequence features the show’s four strongest actors, resulting in arguably the show’s best scene.
Lorelai, Rory, Richard and Emily have a loving but complicated relationship, and the final scene in Friday Night You Can Fight proves it. The family screams, laughs, bonds and heals in their own unique way. The rest of the episode is fine - it has more of an annoying April and an insane storyline in which the unforgettable Paris pushes all of her Yale Daily News employees away from her - but the final scene makes it an iconic and important introduction to Gilmore girls canon.
