For pet lovers, there is little that compares to the appearance of an utterly adorable puppy on screen. Luckily for all of us, a few films have introduced audiences to four-legged furry friends over time - and we can’t thank these wide-ranging films across genres for that.
So, do you prefer to watch an action movie like John Wickor in the mood for a lighthearted animated film like Lady and the Trampall these movies featuring talented dog actors are worth it and make for hours to remember.
10 Daisy (and unnamed dog) from the John Wick franchise.
A victim of a bad outcome, Daisy has undoubtedly become a key character in the John Wick film series: John Wick (Keanu Reeves) The adorable puppy’s heartbreaking death severely triggered the character’s trauma, prompting him to return to his past job after losing his wife. That’s not to say the beautiful Daisy didn’t deserve a long, happy life, but it’s undeniable that her death had a profound effect on Wick’s life.
In the second film, a character succumbed to taking a black pit bull from a dog shelter with him when he was injured and on the run from medication. Although not named, the charming star accompanies Vic on his adventures and is also expected to star in the new installment.
9 Doug from Up (2009)
pixar movie Up emotional and hilarious in equal measure, and this is also due to its characters, among which, of course, a very sweet good boy Doug. This playful fictional dog seems to be so loved by the audience that he is also involved in other projects, including a short film called Doug’s Special Mission and the Disney+ series Digging dayswhere he plays a major role.
With a special collar that gives him the ability to speak, Doug displays a loving and very kind demeanor in everything, which is obviously one of the reasons he is one of the most valuable fictional dogs.
8 Lassie from Lassie Go Home (1943)
Based on the novel of the same name Lassie come home is a 1943 color feature film set in the post-Depression era, starring a canine actor named Pal depicting the strong bond between a rough collie and a Yorkshire boy named Joe.
There is no doubt that Lassie is a very affectionate and sweet dog who has stood the test of time as one of the most iconic four-legged actors. She is also a highly intelligent and hardworking dog who is equally protective, so it’s not hard at all to fall in love with her completely.
7 Sam from I Am Legend (2007)
Apart from all the horrifying post-apocalyptic scenarios, one of the things that people remember the most. Will Smith I’m a legend his character’s dog, Samantha. Robert Neville’s favorite companion, the German Shepherd and best friend for life, has definitely made a mark on a global audience, and we wish it were for better reasons.
Nevertheless, the tragic fate of Sam does not determine its dignity. Although she went through tragic circumstances (unfortunately), like some of the most valuable dogs on screen, Samantha was a memorable character - a very smart dog who really cared for Robert and followed him everywhere.
6 Bully from Legally Blonde (2001)
To be honest, whatever Blonde in law to be without Bruiser? Reese Witherspoonthe lovable on-screen dog was named Mooney in real life (he sadly passed away in 2016), and the 2001 movie actually had his breakout role. Without a doubt, Elle Woods’ tiny chihuahua companion in the film also deserves a spot on this list.
While the movie doesn’t really revolve around Bruiser, the adorable, loyal, and sweet little dog grabs attention in every scene in which he appears in his quirky little outfits, quickly becoming a fan favorite.
5 Hati from Hati: A Dog’s Tale (2009)
Richard Gerecompanion in Hachi: A Dog’s Tale in this heartbreaking tale of friendship and loss absolutely stole everyone’s heart. The film explores the pure bond the two share, reflecting on grief and highlighting how real the connection between humanity and animals is.
Hachiko is definitely one of the most memorable dogs on screen, and that’s partly because of how sweet, empathetic, and fiercely loyal he is to his owner. Analyzing loyalty and camaraderie, the story between the two protagonists is sure to provide food for thought.
4 Beethoven from ‘Beethoven’ (1992)
This St. Bernard is one of the most popular dogs to ever grace our screens, and for good reason. Title character from Beethoven very loving and brings the Newton family together like no other.
Since the film he appeared in was a huge success, Beethoven, named after the famous German composer, has appeared in eight films and is one of the most legendary fur friends on screen. In addition to being kind and sweet, the St. Bernard, beloved all over the world, also really protects his loved ones.
3 Marley from “Marley and Me” (2008)
Based John Grogan2005 memoir of the same name, Marley and me tells about thirteen years of the author’s life (performed by Owen Wilson in this) and his family, who spent time in the company of their yellow Labrador Retriever, Marley. Even though the film is hilarious, at times it is a very emotional viewing.
Of course, Marley had to take his place on the list. Cute and funny, bright dog invariably made an impression both on his fictitious family and on numerous viewers sitting in front of the screen, who could not remain indifferent to his undeniable warmth and caring character.
2 Lady and the Tramp from Lady and the Tramp (1955)
This 1955 American animated musical by Walt Disney is a classic for one reason - and the two main characters play a huge role in it. The perfect pair of unfortunate lovers, Lady and the Tramp are by far the most memorable on-screen dog couple.
While both animated characters are absolutely adorable, they are very different from each other. While Tramp acts more childlike at ease, Lady takes herself more seriously, though she is timid and possibly naive. Originally voiced Barbara Laddy And Larry Robertswonderful dogs remain very popular puppies in pop culture.
1 Toto from The Wizard of Oz (1939)
Classical fantasy music Wizard of Oz does a lot of things right - one of them is a characteristic; although we are all familiar with the main character, Judy GarlandDorothy Gale, Toto is also a star and arguably the most famous dog in movie history, which puts him at the top of this list.
There are countless memorable moments in the film, and Toto is certainly one of the most memorable. In addition to bringing light and joy to Dorothy’s life, he also cared deeply for her. Apparently, the adored Cairn Terrier was (and still is) so popular that its breed has even come to be called the “Toto breed”.
