Worlds Stephen Youn And Ali Wong clashed in the opening footage of A24’s new dark comedy series BEEF. The series, announced back in 2021, is produced and hosted by Lee Sun Jin and follows two complete strangers whose lives are intertwined after a road incident pits them against each other. As their feud constantly grows and ramifies, it threatens to destroy the very fabric of their lives and relationships. In addition to being laughable, it is also described as a deeply moving series with a big heart. The images give a glimpse into the individual lives of the two protagonists, who are about to collapse due to vicious Grade A beef.
In the series, Yoon plays Danny Cho, a failed contractor with a chip on his shoulder, and Wong plays self-taught entrepreneur Amy Lau, whose painterly life is threatened by her conflicts with Cho. Their lives couldn’t be more different as Cho continues to struggle while Lau enjoys the finer things in life. Whatever happens in Cho’s world is apparently enough to keep him awake at night, as shown in one of the images. The conflict with Lau is enough to piss her off, causing her to brandish a gun and constantly look over her shoulder. Everyone has their own relationship on the line, and Lau has George (Joseph Lee) and what about Paul (Young Masino) on the sides in the images.
The combination of Yun and Wong is a strong one for Netflix, which has a strong relationship with both. Yoon previously starred in Okja, bong joon hoaction-adventure that was picked up by a streamer as well as 3below: Tales of Arcadia. However, outside of Netflix, it exploded, taking over Prime Video. invincible And Minari as well as starring Jordan PeelX nope. Meanwhile, Wong’s work with the streamer extends to her various comedy outlets, including baby cobra And Don Wong which received an Emmy nomination. She also previously appeared in American housewives And Predator birds among other things. Previously, Netflix also brought in stars along with the recently canceled series. Tuca and Bertie where they filmed together Tiffany Haddish.
Besides Yun, Wong, Lee and Mazino, BEEF also starred David Chow and Patty Yasutake. The series’ recurring cast includes Maria Bello, Ashley Park, Justin H. Min, Mia SerafinoAnd Remy Holt. A24 Studios is producing the series, which is executive produced by Yoon and Wong along with Jin and Jake Schreier.

BEEF it’s also a bit of a personal story for Jin. The creator who cut his teeth with credits for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, DaveAnd Silicon Valley, told Netflix that he owes the idea for the series to an angry driver he had to deal with in traffic a few years ago.
