Dave Batista 2023 will be strong. The actor promises to be his last appearance as Drax in the MCU. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Meanwhile, fans can currently see him on the big screen in M. Night Shyamalanthriller Knocking in the cabinwhere he shines in one of his most low-key roles.

Bautista’s last effort Knock on the cabin, follows the unexpected appearance of four visitors at the family’s vacation home. The invaders order the family to choose one of their own and voluntarily sacrifice him, otherwise the world will come to a final and painful end. Batista plays Leonard, a quiet teacher and the apparent leader of the invaders.
While far from M. Night Shyamalan’s best film, Knock on the cabin received mixed to positive reviews from critics, praising Bautista’s performance. The actor gives a gentle yet commanding portrayal of a man who has surrendered to his convictions. It’s a disturbing yet wonderful performance and further proof that Batista is an incredible character actor.
9 ‘Dune’ (2021)

Director Denis Villeneuve, Dune follows Paul Atreides (Timothy Chalamet), a young man who finds himself at the epicenter of a war for the precious resources of a desert planet. Bautista is part of a larger ensemble and plays the relatively small role of Glossu Raban, a minor antagonist.
Unlike the first attempt at a film adaptation of the novel, in 2021 Dune received critical acclaim. Villeneuve’s direction and the film’s production values earned him widespread acclaim, as did his fidelity to the source material. Dune won six Oscars at the 2022 ceremony, more than any other film.
8 “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2′ (2017)

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 appeared three years later than its predecessor. The plot focuses on the titular group as they meet Ego the Living Planet (Kurt Russell) who claims to be Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) father and takes them to his secluded planet. Meanwhile, the Guardians’ enemies are closing in on them after fooling them too many times.
Batista reprises his role as the increasingly goofy Drax, serving as one of the film’s main sources of comedy. However, he also develops a close relationship with rookie Mantis (Pom Klementieff), which gives the film a good emotional core. Guardians 2 received positive reviews from critics, who agreed that it was inferior to its predecessor, but still one of the MCU’s finest achievements.
7 Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Guardians play a prominent role in the massive 2018 crossover. Avengers: Infinity War. The story is centered on Thanos, the Mad Titan (Josh Brolin) as he continues his dangerous plan to collect the Infinity Stones. The Guardians come into play when he kidnaps his estranged daughter Gamora (Zoe Saldanha).
Batista is back as a comedic character, his literal approach belies the cynical Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). Infinity War received critical acclaim, who praised his humor and Josh Brolinmotion capture performance as Thanos. The film ends memorably with the disappearance of half of the characters, including Drax.
6 Blade Runner 2049 (2017)

Bautista plays a small but pivotal and memorable role as Sapper Morton, the senior replicant who K. “retires” at the beginning of the film. His performance drew rave reviews, as did the film’s ambitious plot and production value. Unfortunately, it fell far behind at the box office.
5 “Master Z: Legacy of IP Man” (2018) - 89%

Spin-off successful IP man row, Master Z: Legacy of IP Man stars Max Zhang, Michelle Yeoh, Liu Yangand Bautista. The plot follows martial arts expert Cheng Tinchi (Max Zhang) whose normal life in Hong Kong is disrupted by assassins sent to bring him back into the fray. Batista plays Owen Davidson, the leader of a drug smuggling syndicate.
Master Z: Legacy of IP Man received very positive reviews from critics, who praised the action choreography and Zhang’s performance. However, his safer approach to the revered martial arts genre drew more controversy.
4 “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014)

Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Edition took Disney+ by storm when it premiered in late 2022. The plot centers on Drax and Mantis who go to Earth to kidnap Kevin Bacon in a misguided attempt to cheer up Peter Quill.
Batista and Klementieff are finally in the spotlight in this lighthearted and fun episode. The dynamics of Drax and Mantis are charming and more than entertaining enough to support a forty-minute special, and the plot offers many charming and truly emotional moments that perfectly capture the holiday spirit. The special received rave reviews, with Bautista and Klementiev’s performances receiving particular praise.

Ambitious 2019 Marvel Crossover Avengers: Endgame was the culmination of a decade of continuous storytelling. The story follows the protagonists trying to bring back everyone who was destroyed at the end of the previous film, leading to the final battle against Thanos.
Unlike its predecessor, Drax and the Guardians play a very small role in The final. Rocket onlyBradley Cooper) and nebula (Karen Gillan) have significant roles and their characters get incredible and much-needed development. The final received universal acclaim from critics, who praised it as a satisfactory conclusion to the first act of the MCU.
