Like Goldilocks and her problems with porridge, chairs and beds, some shows are too long, some not long enough, and some just right. When it comes to a show that left us too soon, there will always be those that come to mind as the right choice, but some just make us sad.
Have we lost Will Arnett And Christina Applegate find out paternity or Jenna Fischer And Oliver Hudson having learned how to be freshly divorced, those shows were lost too soon. Given that Gossip Girl has become the new victim of the sophomore chopping block, what others didn’t make the list?
1 “Single Parents” (2018-2020)
This show was really ahead of its time. Single parents followed WillTaran Killam) as a recently divorced single father trying to make sense of his new world. The show also brought in some incredible heavyweight actors to round out the cast: Leighton Meester, Brad GarrettAnd Kimry Lewis.
However, the real shame that this show was canceled was that we weren’t able to see more of the truly incredible. Marlow Barkley. She played Will’s daughter, Sophie, and is an absolute genius in acting. While she continued to work on some truly amazing projects, it would be amazing to see more of what she could do as Sophie.
2 “Part Together” (2018-2019)
This show had such an amazing premise and was very promising. Unfortunately, like all the other shows mentioned here, it disappeared too soon. ‘Separation together ‘ followed a recently divorced couple as they struggled to balance raising children and a single life while staying together.
They traded the weekend for being a parent and a single person. As they went through this process, they realized that they still love and appreciate each other. It was really nice to see Oliver Hudson And Jenna Fischer in these roles, as they really played them to perfection.
3 “Stay up all night” (2011-2012)
IN All night long we saw amazing chemistry with Will Arnett And Christina Applegate as they portrayed new parents struggling to adjust. Reagan (Applegate) as the producer of a popular talk show that her friend (Maya Rudolph) and Chris (Arnett), who is learning to be a stay-at-home dad.
With the comedic genius of Applegate, Arnett and Rudolph, this show was absolutely hilarious. But after several hiatuses and scheduling conflicts, the show was eventually canceled and never returned. Such a shame to see such a freak show just thrown out like that.
4 “Gossip Girl” (2021-2022)
Unlike the CW series, this is a loose sequel that ran for six seasons, this reboot of sorts suffered an early death and only lasted two seasons before dying. The ratings for the first season of the show were appallingly low, even at Rotten Tomatoes it was a staggering 38%.
Even though the second season’s ratings went up, it wasn’t enough to get the blood flowing. After casting unknown actors, this show just didn’t have the power that the original did. It probably failed because audiences wanted the original, not a reboot. We will never know.
5 “Melniki” (2013-2015)
In another tragedy leaving too soon Millers was a quirky comedy that followed Nathan Miller (Will Arnett) as he traveled the world as a news reporter, divorced with no children and living with his fiasco mother. Watching Arnett pull off every scene so well was just brilliant.
Along with Arnett, the show has featured significant talent Margot Martindale, Beau Bridges, JB SmoothAnd Sean Hayes. Although it was terrible to see this show end, especially since it was the show that Arnett left. All night long for it is clear that he went by the wayside, since he did not work well.
6 “For Life” (2020-2021)
Loosely based on life Isaac Wright Jr.this show follows Aaron Wallace (Nicholas Pinnock) as a person wrongly convicted of a crime. Sentenced to life in prison, he obtains a license to practice law and works to overturn several wrongful convictions of his fellow inmates, as well as getting his way.
This show was a significant disappointment in the sense that it never seemed to be truly resolved. The story, although they offered an ending, was not a happy ending and viewers felt deprived of the ending the story truly deserved. Ideally, this is a show that could be revived later. Here’s hoping.
7 “Agent Carter” (2015-2016)
In one of the few Marvel ventures that didn’t immediately make big bucks, Agent Carter, while the beloved show only lasted two seasons before being cancelled. WITH Hayley Atwell at the helm with Chad Michael Murrayit seemed to have a lasting effect.
After fans liked Agent Carter in the first Captain America film, Marvel decided to give her a solo series. While it received predominantly positive reviews, the ratings simply couldn’t support the series any longer. Who knows, with the way Disney and Marvel are doing, we might see Carter again.
8 “Pushing Daisies” (2007–2009)
With both seasons pushing daisies earning a nearly perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the production suffered from a writers’ strike in 2007–2008. Despite great reviews and amazing ratings, the show just couldn’t handle the Writers Guild strike.
WITH Lee Pace, Anna Friel, Chi McBrideAnd Christine Chenoweth, this show has been, and can continue to be, one of the most profitable shows on television. The protagonist brings people back to life with a magical touch and uses this power to solve murders. There is literally nothing in this show that you don’t like!
9 “Party Down” (2009-2010)
A show with actors and comedians playing failed actors and comedians. What a delightfully awkward and hilarious premise. And with this cast Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Lizzy Caplan, Martin Starr, Jane Lynch, Jennifer CoolidgeAnd Megan Mullallyit’s a real shock that it was cancelled.
Despite the early cancellation, this show has become quite popular among the fans. They went so far as to ignite the fire of renewal, and eventually succeeded. Most of the cast will soon return to the small screens of Starz for a third season revival on February 24, 2023.
10 “Flight of the Conchords” (2007–2009)
It is still relatively unclear just how serious this show was. The show looked like a parody, but at the same time, the actors took their characters seriously. It’s a musical comedy so outlandish it’s hard to believe there’s anything serious about it.
Following the life of Bret and Jemaine (Bret McKenzie And Jemaine Clement, respectively) as they left their shepherd jobs in New Zealand in an attempt to become folk musicians in New York. They start singing regularly and the songs are almost as stupid as they are.
