The full moon is creeping across the horizon, and it will certainly wake up one or two new supernatural creatures in the new Paramount+ series. Wolf Pack. At the head wolf cub creator Jeff DavisThe Werewolf Show chronicles the story of a group of teenagers who discover their lives are quickly changed by a mysterious creature that wakes them up during the raging California wildfires. Just weeks before the show’s release, the streaming giant has finally unveiled the fantasy drama’s official trailer.

In a brand new trailer, a school bus comes to a halt as wildfires engulf an amber-covered forest. As the air thickens into smoke, a swarm of creatures frantically flee the scene before attacking the students. Things quickly escalate when one student emerges from the fog, covered in blood, quickly trying to warn his friend that “there’s something in there” before being cut off and dragged back into the smoke - nowhere to be seen. Almost immediately after, the two terrified teenagers stare uneasily into the distance, presumably moments before they were attacked by the mysterious creature. From this point on, things quickly escalate as the teenagers panic over their drastic transformations, including fangs, glowing eyes, and murderous claws.

That’s all until arson investigator Kirsten RamseySarah Michelle Gellar) is friends with Sheriff Garrett Briggs (Rodrigo Santoro) as they try to track down any of the teenagers on the school bus. Kirsten’s confidence that this is definitely not a “seven-foot monster” is shattered when she and the sheriff stumble across blood-soaked footprints and end up hearing a roar so powerful it can only belong to one creature. In the final episode, one of the teenagers is heard telling the sheriff that they “have never killed anyone before”, to which he cryptically replies, “You never had a pack before.” While the sheriff is certainly friends with Kristen, it’s clear that he knows more than he lets on, but whether he’s a werewolf hunter or a protector is yet unknown.

Based Edo van Belkomeponymous book, Wolf Pack is set to perfectly combine the reality of a teenager with raging hormones and a werewolf with heightened senses. Of course, it’s also an added element that rookie wolves keep their identities secret while going through their rapid metamorphoses. It is impossible not to make comparisons between Wolf Pack and wolf cub given that Davis has successfully directed the latter for six seasons and is set to do so again for the upcoming film. However, it seems that Wolf Pack will use a different thread of werewolf folklore, taking a noticeably darker and more gritty approach to the theme. It’s clear from the trailer Wolf Pack will go his own way in the genre.

Along with Gellar and Santoro, Wolf Pack also tuned to a star Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Chloe Rose Robertson and Tyler Lawrence Gray. Lead character Gellar complements her role as an executive producer alongside Davis. Looks like 2023 will be the launching pad for a revival of werewolf dramas. Wolf Pack roars on Paramount+ screens from January 26th. You can watch the new trailer below and check out the new poster:
