Every year more and more books are being adapted for the big and small screens, and 2023 is no exception. For those who love to drink and read, there’s great news: many of the books are being adapted into series that will air this year. While all of these shows are reportedly coming out this year, not all of them have official release dates.
Some of this year’s highly anticipated series Daisy Jones and Six, The last thing he said to meand Dear Edward. Viewers can stream these series from the comfort of their homes on various streaming platforms.
“Daisy Jones and the Six”
Daisy Jones and Six is the story of the rise, fall and decades later of the titular band of the 1970s era and its two frontmen, Daisy Jones and Billy Dunn. The group includes solo artist Daisy Jones and The Six, hence the combined names in the show’s title. This Fleetwood Mac inspired story is going to be interesting and epic.
The series is based on the book of the same name. Taylor Jenkins Reid. Fans of this book will be happy to know that the series will be released on Prime Video on March 3, 2023! This should delay fans while they wait for more information on Reed’s Netflix adaptation. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
“Three body problem”
This television series follows the events that take place after a top-secret military project seeks contact with aliens via signals. An alien civilization in space hears the call and plans to invade Earth because their civilization is fighting. These two worlds will collide during the Cultural Revolution in China in the 1960s.
Based on the book Liu QixinThis series is sure to be exciting and eventful. While fans of the series may rejoice to know it’s coming to Netflix sometime this year, its official release date is still being kept under wraps.
“Chemistry Lessons”
The series follows a woman named Elizabeth Zott, a late 1950s chemist who is forced to take a very different path after becoming a single mother. This story tells about the careers of women and their path to self-improvement. Starring Brie Larson and Lewis Pullman.
Book Bonnie Garmus serves as the basis for this series. Since there is no official release date, but the show is slated to release this year on AppleTV+, fans can only look forward to the announcement of the release date.
“Mayfair Witches”
Mayfair witches It is based on Ann Rice Mayfair Witch Life book trilogy. The story follows a titular family of witches whose fortunes have been ruled over the generations by a spirit named Lasher. Starring Alexandra Daddario from White Lotus and Harry Hamlin from Madmen.
Ann Rice fans no longer have to wait to delve into this adaptation. This series aired January 8 on AMC+! Viewers can watch one episode per week, with new episodes airing on Sundays.
“The Other Black Girl”
This television series is about Nell, a black assistant editor working for a white publishing firm in New York City. Although she is thrilled when another black girl named Hazel starts working there, she soon begins to wonder if Hazel is friend or foe.
Based on the book Zakia Delilah Harris, the series doesn’t have an official release date yet, but will reportedly release sometime this year on Hulu. Fans of this book will have to look forward to more information about it!
“The last thing he said to me”
Novel Laura Dave is the basis for this television adaptation. The show follows a woman named Hannah who, after her husband’s sudden disappearance, forms a bond with his sixteen-year-old daughter, who searches for him and mourns his loss.
Although this series does not have an official release date, it has been picked up by Reese Witherspoon and will reportedly star Jennifer Garner. The series will air this year on AppleTV+. The wait continues for this one too!
‘Fall of the House of Usher’
When Madeline Asher and her brother Roderick are visited by his old friend at their Usher mansion, the friend finds the two sickly and unwell, but with an unknown illness that has given them unusual powers. Being created Mike Flanagancreator of other famous Netflix shows such as The ghosts of the house on the hill, The Haunting of Bly Manorand midnight massthis series is sure to be dark and deliciously creepy.
No official release date, but slated for release this year on Netflix. Edgar Allen Poe fans can only bite their nails in suspense as everyone waits for Mike Flanagan’s latest dark project to come out the way Poe and Flanagan would like.
“Lockwood & Co”
Lockwood & Co. adaptation follows three teenage paranormal investigators, a teenage girl with physical abilities, and two teenage boys who run a paranormal investigation agency in London. The three will be forced to fight the ghosts and end up on an adventure bigger than they ever imagined.
Adapted from a series of books Jonathan Stroud, this show will be released on January 27 on Netflix. This means fans will have to mark it on their calendars because its release date is just around the corner!
“My Lady Jane”
Jane is the cousin of Edward, King of England. He is young and dying and has arranged a marriage for her to secure their line of succession after his death. In the midst of all this, the two of them are drawn into a dangerous plot and end up holding the fate of the kingdom in their hands.
The series is based on the book of the same name. Cynthia Hand, Brody Ashton, and Jody Meadows.My Lady Janecast includes Emily Baderand will be released sometime this year on Prime Video. The fate of this show’s release date is in the hands of Amazon Studios.
“Dear Edward”
The series follows the events after a tragic plane crash that killed everyone but a 12-year-old boy named Edward Adler. As he and the other survivors move forward and try to make sense of the tragedy, romance, community, and friendship emerge along the way.
This series based on the book Ann Napolitano, will be released on AppleTV+ sometime this year, no official release date yet. Fans of the book will have to wait a bit to find out exactly when this adaptation will hit their screens this year.
