In a recent exclusive interview Collider, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Xochitl Gomez spoke about her experience on the set of the Marvel blockbuster. In the film, she plays America Chavez, a girl who can jump between universes. Her life is threatened after the protagonist decides to capture her in order to investigate her dimensional travel abilities.

During the interview, Gomez reflected on the state of mind we left her character in by the end. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesswhat lies ahead for America next and the young superhero’s biggest weakness. Gomez also talked about how she sees her own character and what role the universe jumper could play in the upcoming installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is already slated for Phase 6 in 2026.

“Well, I mean, at this point, you know… she’s obviously getting over her trust issues. And I feel like she just needs a place to call home and she needs discipline and order in her life. And I think Wong is, but I think she definitely needs to learn how to work with others. She obviously worked alone and was also destined to be a leader. Therefore, to be a leader, you must also learn how to work with others and help each other. And I think she has the qualities to be a great leader, but I think there are a few more things she needs to learn first.”

Gomez previously starred in the acclaimed Netflix comedy. babysitter club. Marvel is still silent when we see America Chavez again, but Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness screenwriter Michael Waldron (Loki) was teased that her story was rigged. Given the studio’s recent trend of telling origin stories in a Disney+ series, there’s a chance we’ll see America figure out her way in a six-episode arc from the comfort of her own home.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is part of the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the 28th film in the franchise. It features Stephen StrangeBenedict Cumberbatch) and Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) on different sides of a complex issue. The film has grossed over $950 million worldwide and is currently #2 in the top ten highest grossing films of the year.
