Over the past decade, there have been some great contemporary horror franchises that have pursued the genre. While most fans will point to spell as one of the best, you might not have it James Wang classic without insidious. The franchise has been dormant for almost half a century, and there have been many changes over the past few years with the fifth film, but now Insidious 5 has an official release date. This underrated horror franchise returns to theaters on July 7, 2023.
This is great news as we really haven’t had any development updates on the film since the franchise star. Patrick Wilson said the project would start in the spring of 2022 back in February. Wilson, who played Josh Lambert on the show, is not only returning to the franchise for the first time since his cameo in Insidious: Chapter 3The horror icon will also make his directorial debut in this highly anticipated sequel. Ty Simpkins will also return as son of Josh Dalton. Not much is yet known about Insidious 5plot, but we know the movie takes place 10 years after the original, and Dalton is now in college.
The obsession with Dalton in the first film kicked off the franchise’s uniquely atmospheric fears and suspense, which paved the way for other classic genres such as spell, Witch, Shouldas well as babadook. The film also introduced horror fans to the supernatural dimension “Next,” which thematically shares many similarities with other now-famous genre locations such as “The Upside Down” in very strange things. We last saw this universe in 2018. Insidious: The Last Key and while some might argue that the franchise’s three sequels/prequels never fully capture the terrifying magic of the original, insidious has always been a quality franchise. Especially Insidious: Chapter 2 as well as Insidious: Chapter 3 are some of the best horror sequels ever made. The last of which is led by Invisible ManX Leigh Whannell, - one of the best examples of the use of screamers in the genre.

Just a week before the film’s release on June 30, another long-awaited fifth installment in the popular franchise, untitled, hit the screens. Indiana Jones 5finally releases. Then, just a week after insidious releases, Mission: Impossible: Paying for Death, Part One goes to cinemas. Other high-profile releases next July include Barbie, Oppenheimeras well as Miracles. It goes to show that Blumhouse has a lot of faith in this horror sequel, and it could be a great counter-program for people not interested in any major blockbusters. For example, another Blumhouse product. black phone showed amazing results in its current run this summer, despite the fact that films like Best shooter as well as Jurassic World Dominion dominate the box office. Horror has established itself in crowded markets before, and the script is written by one of the franchise’s creators. Scott Tims judging by the story he and Whannell came up with, this new legacy film is in safe hands.
Insidious 5 has what it takes to be successful, and it will be interesting to see what Wilson brings to the franchise behind the camera.
